Wouldn't he be fricking old in this one?

Think about it...at least 15 years passed between episodes 1 and 3, 20+ years between episodes 3 and 4, 2-5 years between 4 and 6, and 30 years between 6 and 7.

Best case scenario, he's 70 years older than he was in Phantom Menace.

I could be ok with this if the folowing things are done to the chracter...

- he is not CGI
- He speaks like a British Gentleman.
- He doesn't do dumb shite
- has less than 10 minutes screen time

So, basically if they put in a completely new character?

I'm hoping they missed the memo that April 1st has come and gone.

no...star wars is dead. it's a product that's oversaturated like duck dynasty and pokemon

It was different when the prequels were first released

the first one? I still struggle with this. I still find myself doing mental gymnastics to make myself like it which is a fruitless endeavor because

they made a second one - quite possibly the worst movie ever made

and we saw the 3rd one to get it over with

this will make money, but the die hards who loved Star Wars and Empire (maybe even jedi) will not be duped into thinking they're going to see the same magic on screen...the prequels can't be undone. Star Wars' will be a wild success, but for the same reasons that transformers 4 was a wild success.

unless the reviews are out of this world, I won't be seeing it in theaters

of course, and if it wasn't the reaction would be so intense that Disney would eventually scrap him from the movie

I was one of those weird kids who just liked Star Wars. Like I watched the trilogy over a weekend for the first time when I was about 7 or 8. I went "cool, that was good." and then went on with my childhood. I didn't become obsessed with it or watch it a million times, didn't want a bunch of toys, nothing.

It was just another good movie. My friends saw it too, but none of them became obsessed or fanatical. I guess I understand it for those who grew up in the 70s and saw it when it was new and there had never been anything like it. But for anyone under about 35, I really just don't get it. Maybe I grew up in the wrong neighborhood, but Star Wars did not define our childhood in the early to mid 90s. I think a lot of people basically "want" to be star wars nerds, they want to act like it defined their childhood and is sacred to them in some nostalgic sense. Even though it's not.

I don't want him in the sequels, but I don't hate Jar Jar as bad as some do.

star wars didn't define my childhood. But seeing it was a revelation. It is a part of my childhood

and holy shite, they're making a new one! aaaargh its going to be insane. We get to see all this stuff that was mentioned, OMG!

never will a movie be built up that much again and under deliver on such an epic scale. Like I said, star wars fandom seems very dead to me. Lucas has just diluted the product so terribly (and every addition since the OT ended (books, comics, video games) has been spectacularly horrible.

Many of the Expanded Universe books were awesome (Shadows of an Empire) and several of the games were awesome, especially Knights of the Old Republic I and II. The prequels as a whole were dog shite, but the last prequel was actually pretty good.

Still diluting the product

Shadows of the empire was a good game, the story was stupid

Did you read the book? It's awesome, and it introduces a character who is basically the archetype for the OT baller.
