Give him one more chance

He's going to be the X factor for the Pels this season. My sources say he's ready to ball out. People are expecting a playoff contending team with a mediocre Gordon. Just imagine how good this team will be with Gordon playing well and Davis taking another step.

It's time to stop bashing Gordon. He's going to be here. He's going to Pels summer league games, hanging with teammates, welcoming the news guys on twitter. He's in. Now is the time to get behind him; if he does well, it means the team is winning or he could fetch a nice return from another team. Hating him at this point does no good. Let's rally behind him and see what happens!

On paper this is a very talented roster. Silver lining here is that Gordon is a good player, he doesn't suck. His contract absolutely does suck, but there's nothing we can do about it. We have to support the team, and maybe getting behind the guy and showing support will light a fire in him to perform well. All we can hope for is that he plays, and plays well because that only helps the team.

He showed a few flashes of being the player we signed the max contract to. I think if reports saying he's as healthy as ever, him being slimmer, and this team finally being healthy together we could make a run for mid-seed playoffs.

I just hope the refs stop swallowing the whistle when he drives. I swear the guy gets clobbered every other time and they don't call it while "stars" like Harden drive and graze their elbow and get 3 whistles blown at once.

Could not agree more. I've said before, Gordon will more than likely be our 2nd or 3rd best option offensively this year, his three point shooting was great last season, and he plays above average defense.

If he's healthy and has regained his explosiveness, this team can win A LOT of games this year.

Having Asik changes everything too. There will never be a time when our guards will be counted on to do everything. That was always the case last year when Anderson was hurt and AD was on the bench. Asik's presence alone will draw enough attention to make things much easier on all of our guards.

That would be true, except he's kind of already been around that corner. We just need him to return the corner.

Why would you put stars in quotation marks regarding Harden? He IS a star, unlike Gordon. To the rest of the league the dude is a middle of the pack nobody.

That wasn't the case while he was in LA. He was widely considered a top 7-8 SG back then. Injuries and attitude have greatly diminished his value, but that's not to say he can't regain that form.

He had a few months of shooting well

That's literally his only accomplishment in the NBA. Well other than having the personality of a wall. And being a gigantic pussy.

He had a good year and people thought he was up and coming. He's proven that he isn't.

Someone posted some highlights of him from LA last year and he was a different player attacking the basket, he was serving up facials, not looking for officials to bail him out. We traded for damaged goods.

A good year?

He played 3 years in LA and averaged 18 pts/game, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, shot 81% FTs, 50% on 2s, and 38% on 3s. All while averaging 36 mpg.

You just clearly showed how the hate for Gordon has clouded people's judgment of him. By all accounts, he will be as healthy as he has ever been since coming to Nola this season. Only thing we can do is hope he can play similar to how he did in LA.

Well said.

Signing EG has been a train wreck from the start. I still say it was a major miscalculation on Demps part; the "My heart is in Phoenix" crap sealed the deal. I know some say we had no choice but that just isn't the case. The Suns were willing to to do a S & T and Demps stood firm. Demps pissed away $54M and handcuffed this team.

Do you have any proof of that or are you just throwing shite out there?

There were after the fact rumors that we didn't return calls from Phoenix and Houston.

Yes. The year he averaged 22 PPG. Nobody was saying he was going to be a top 3 SG after two years of 16 PPG. People thought he was going to take it to the next level here and he hasn't.

Seeing him not be that guy for 3 years has made me realistic. He's never going to be what people thought he could be.

I guarantee you the second he steps on the court for another team he will all of a sudden play like a top 3 SG

I agree with you that Gordon probably won't be the 25 ppg scorer we thought he was. The problem is that people see it as 25 ppg scorer or bust. There is a middle ground. He put up 15 ppg at 43/38/78 last year. I still think he can be a 45/38/80 18 ppg scorer on this team. Is that worth what he is paid? I say no but its not a complete waste either. Gordon Haywood put up lesser stats a just got the max.
