A few of my friends gave me a 45qt Yeti for my wedding. It was something I never would have bought for myself, but I was really excited and appreciative when I received it. I use it almost daily and love it.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far.

what is his age?

Almost 30

He wouldn't use a YETI. He already has a lifetime license, and the only gun I would consider getting his is a Henry Golden Boy .22lr

He has Costas, and is a bigger fisherman than hunter but enjoys both. The knife is a good idea. I like that a lot. As far as Filson goes, what garment would y'all recommend?

Thanks again and keep em coming!

$500 gets a lifetime hunting and fishing license in LA.

A nice set of Danner boots runs a bit over $300

A BPS is around $450-500

A small Calcutta w a nice rod could be had for under $500

He already has a lifetime license. He doesn't wear boots. He has a shotgun and plenty of rods and reels. Part of the reason I'm having trouble...

In my opinion, a gun is pretty much the only answer here. I do like the custom knife suggestion as well. Those are two things that will last forever, true heirloom items. While the lanyard and Filson suggestions are great gifts, I wouldn't consider them to be multi generational.

Those Henry's are mighty fine, that would be my pick.

A Henry golden boy .22 is a very good option here IMO

Agreed. Although the duck strap looks mighty fine. I was looking for an idea for a buddy of mine anyway. Might be the direction I go.

Golden boy is out of his price range

Now a standard Henry .22 isn't

Edit. Never mind. I was wrong. You were right
