So much fail as usual with the King of Baton Rouge. There were plenty of big names playing this year

I remember watch some old school home run derbys with ball players from the 50s-60s where they would do it in the format of a game. Swing til you get 3 outs then it is the other guy. That I enjoyed.

I'm 100% with the OP on the non English speaking thing. I understand some of these guys are new to America and can't learn English immediately, so I guess I'm faulting ESPN for doingn and interview we can't understand. They literally just started the derby (after the delay) and the first thing we get is an interview in Spanish?

Griffey Jr, Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, A-Rod, Bagwell, Ripken, Gwynn, etc. Stars back then were more dynamic/exciting than they are today.
Lol, no they werent. Perhaps baseball just isnt as mesmerizing for you now as it was in your youth so your perception is off? It's happened to all of us, including myself. I was a HUGE baseball fan a few years ago and I still am, just not as drawn to the sport as much as I used to be. Now when football season rolls around, different story.

Needs more Sosa and Mcgwire hitting balls into downtown Boston

It would be a hell of a lot better if somebody else carried it instead of ESPN. frick Berman. I don't even watch ESPN anymore unless LSU is on there in some sport contest.

Two biggest problems with the derby:
It lasts too long... called it quits around 10 last night and they hadn't even gotten into the semi-finals.
Chris Berman. He needs to retire already.

I was actually at the derby and Mike and Mike announced during the event. They were pretty bad

Not household names to the casual fan...so big stars? No.

Household names to the casual fan and far bigger stars in the 90's than today.
Baseball has gone the way of soccer in this country.
When it comes to baseball, Hispanics (19%), those with a household income of $100,000 or more (18%), and suburbanites (18%) are more likely to cite it as their favorite sport; African Americans (7%), those who live in rural areas (8%) and Echo Boomers (10%) are least likely to say baseball is their favorite. I'm also sick of the foreign guys not being able to speak English.
Do you really watch baseball to hear guys speak? Or play baseball?

The "big names" of today don't compare at all to the big names of the 90s.
