I know Wise. I am not bashing NOLA. It is just frustrating to me that they can't make an IPA or a DIPA that is above average.

Hitting the rack now. Check with R2R or Yeezy about happenings in October.

Ru has kind of filled me in.

Just wait for the bourbon barrel aged Mecha

For some reason, I think this is more accurate. I think the ability is there, and I'm as confused as you are about why it hasn't happened yet.

I'm guessing that as soon as the first great LA IPA starts making a ton of money, other brewers will make it a priority.

You do know NOLA has about 23 employees right now. Not all those guys are brewers.

Which is why I said some of those guys know what they're doing. You were next to me last week when I praised Arabella and I drink my fair share of mecha. The guy I shared a beer with was a brewer.

I've only had a couple NOLA beers, but nothing has blown me away. I see a couple of you guys drinking what sounds like experimental stuff at their tap room.

They should start an experimental series that they bottle and do limited releases at the tap room or something. Maybe throw in some bottled ICS variants into the series. This may generate some more buzz and help them find a couple other brews for their regular lineup.

This idea has worked well for St Arnold, Real Ale and Karbach here in Texas.

They have to do it right, though. Lakewood has a "legendary series" that has been anything but legendary.

For sure, man. I trust you and don't think you're looking to just take shots. You say it happened, I believe you, and I think we can all agree that some people are more knowledgeable than others. Plus shite happens. I screwed up my blind IPA taste test the other night and I was (more or less ) sober. shite happens.

You should e-mail them this

It takes time, but there are things in the works. A bottling line is in their future.

We going to need a lot more hop heads down here for that to happen.

The problem is that their weak spot is their hoppy beers and they aren't really experimenting in that department, just adding a little fruit, extra dry hops, or whatever to their base beers and renaming them (at from what I've seen on the tap room menu).

Preach.

I can see the Girl Stout getting to that point. It's pretty much an everyday main stay at the tap room. As far as finding new regular beers they already can't keep up with the ones they have to can still. Just because Mecha is meh doesn't equate to them being unsuccessful brewey. They are doing very well.

I believe in your influence yeezy. A couple subtle hints (see: a v-neck that reads "Please make a good DIPA") and I think you can make it happen

Ive been all about the "see: " jokes tonight. Theyre not funny

I agree with this, hopefully with the sours they are putting out (which seem to be improving with each test) along with the bottling line, we will start to see some more of these in distribution instead of just in the tap room.

Probably true and I'm just basing what I said on what I see on here...which is the end all be all of beer advocacy and reviews.

I will say that I think NOLA has an insane amount of potential based on name, location, and market alone. It'll be interesting to see what happens to them. I would probably help bank roll an expansion if they opened up for investors.

I still think the breweries here underestimate the number of hopheads in the state. They want to dumb down their IPAs to make them more accessible. But look at how Parish GITM flew off the shelves. That shows that people here will buy it and lots of it, if they will just make it.

I still think this latest batch of Mecha is a helluva lot more drinkable than previous batches. I'm happy to buy it on a semi-regular basis like this.
