His ego will not let him stay away. He will just create an "alter-ego" to continue his condescending tweets.

He is like a lot of bloggers.
He wants people to see him like they see professional reporters.
People don't. People see him and others like him as what they are...fans.
So, when people call him into question, he reacts like a fan does...with juvenile backlash. Genuine reporters for the most part ignore the thousands of nasty messages flung their way every day. They will get into spats with other professionals, but usually dismiss fan vitriol en masse. MM...not a reporter, just a fan, doesn't have the ability to do this, because he is a fan and fans, especially heavily involved fans, tend to respond to everything.
And one of the things that bloggers have to deal with is that many people consider them just to be fans, so when they claim to be reporters, people call shenanigans.
If he and other bloggers would just accept their role as fans, this kind of stuff woudn't happen, but their personality won't allow for it. They are wannabes, will always be wannabes, and will react like wannabe's react when called to the carpet...with childishness.

That to me is what rubs me the wrong way with some of the BSS and TBW guys.
I am thankful for their content and I usually enjoy just about everything both sites put out. I get that they probably receive asinine comments and insults constantly. What is bothersome is when they decide to attack anyone who disagrees with what they say.
"Zach Lowe doesn't think the Holiday trade was the best move for the Pelicans? Ziller doesn't believe PJ Tucker is the next Bruce Bowen and is a top FA target? Let's harass them about it because I clearly see more clearly about this than they do"
There is often way too much zeal to prove they are right (which is impossible for anyone w/r/t almost all of the discussions about the team) and any reasonable difference of opinion is cast in an antagonistic light. For some of these guys, it's like they are the only arbiters of what is acceptable thought about the team. Any questioning means "you just don't get it and you like to whine."
I can ignore Smith. He is just cashing paychecks writing click bait articles on a subject he knows nothing about. Much harder to ignore when guys who devote so much time and energy to producing quality work (which they do) turn around and act like arrogant jackasses because someone had the temerity to disagree.

Throw in some of the local on air sports personalities as well. Even funnier is when these 'fans' are presented a legit analysts and brought on local sport shows - TV and Radio - as if their opinion is anything more than that of a fan.
So in a nutshell…BSS and Bird Writes are just slightly more sophisticated non anonymous versions of Pelican Talk on Tigerdroppings - with a few charts and graphs thrown in.
