Babbitt not being at camp and Coach Gates stuttering when asked about it were solid clues

He was a good find but I won't miss his stupid haircut.

Probably means we're keeping Anderson too.

So does this essentially confirm that we aren't sending rivers or someone essential out to make the Asik trade work?

Not yet. It does eliminate stretching Rivers, but he could still be traded away.

Babbit's contract isn't guaranteed. Likely to be involved in a trade.

Cleveland will now send Alonzo Gee to New Orleans -- not Charlotte, as had been arranged on draft night, source confirms.

Gee ($3m non-guaranteed contract) will be waived, clearing way for New Orleans to complete Omer Asik deal with Houston.

The hole at SF is big enough that I wouldn't be completely surprised if we did Rivers for Dudley. I would rather do Aminu or Roberts for Dudley, but we need some SFs that don't belong in the DLeague.

You don't save any money by waiving a contract you didn't have before, That's not right.

If we traded Ely/Babbit to Cleveland for Gee and then Gee to Houston, would that make a difference ie MLE?

It confused me too. I think he just means waived in the future, not necessarily by the Pels.

Brian Windhorst explains that the Cavs get a very useful $3.2 million trade exception.

Gee isn't enough to keep it. Need to send out $5.5m and he's at $3.25m.

I thought we were sending them smaller non-guaranteed contracts for Gee. I guess if we're just taking him on via cap space, then both exceptions go bye-bye.

I don't think so. I'm prepared to treat Asik as our MLE. We need to stockpile the non-guaranteed contracts to send to Houston for Asik.

Should I feel bad if I'm not quite grasping the #'s and exceptions right now?
