Going to see what all the hype is about

You will not be disappointed.

I could never wrap my head around apes beating humans with superior firepower. I don't know why, but I can't get past that thought and enjoy the fiction for what it is.

This movie fricked my emotions. It was hard to stay on one side honestly. You felt for both the humans and apes, but they both had their assholes. And I don't get how Gary oldman was supposed to be the "villain".

Koba was the villain. What did you think about the movie?
Posted on 7/14/14 at 9:59 pm to Futures Bleak
The ads made it appear that he was a pretty cliche small minded murderous psychopath, not once until after it was released did they start showing koba as the villain.

I really enjoyed it. There were some sequences where it was like "yeah right ". But other than that it was great. I liked the Ape cgi, their building of their civilization, etc. Apes were really the best part of the movie.
And this is where I say I'm a dumbass for bashing IGN. They got it right

He's what you call a "red herring". He wasn't the villain. Koba was.

But half of it was our own expectations based on conventional movie making wisdom.
I loved that koba was the villain and he was great

Which was gret because it felt like it was headed and could have easily gone the "humans suck" direction
its funny I told my friends the exact same thing leaving the theatre. You got to root for caesar and not while he's wiping out the human race
a few things were predcitable like the main guy running into Caesar's son while getting the medical supplies, etc.
But overall a damn fricking good movie.
-When you're running in with your tank and your encountering thousands of enemies with the ability to swing and climb quickly, its probably best to have that bad boy locked up. idiot
just saw this interview,
quote:
Silver: It's like with cable TV, we can do a slow burn. There's no need to tell the story with these big wide chunks. We can slow down and tell more intimate character pieces. Caesar and the characters around Caesar are particularly compelling, so maybe we slow down and spend some time with them before we jump a thousand years in the future. We'll see. It's a very juicy opportunity.
this is good to hear

Noticed that too, but know that that happens in 90% of action movies, so I let it slide.
I put ammo reloading right up there with characters rarely if ever using the bathroom. It's unneeded.

2 other cliches I was glad they avoided I thought were going to happen:
1) Franco leaving behind some video message on the off chance caesar would stumble upon that cam corder.
2) Helping Kobo up at the very end only to have him betray him one last time.

quote:They blindsided them in a moment of drunken celebration and stole their superior firepower. One of the main points of the movie was that humans only cared about getting their power and they had just gotten it. The last thing they were thinking about was war.

I think the real villains were the guns...really felt like it was an anti-gun film than anything else after a 2nd viewing.

I watched it yesterday. I can't think of one thing I didn't like about it.
