btw, theo said in an interview that bellerin beat his club 40m sprint record. had no idea the kid had those kind of wheels.

I thought Ryo was faster than Theo? Wonder at what age Theo ran for the record.
re: Arsenal 2014/15 Season Long ThreadPosted by crazy4lsu on 8/13/14 at 6:59 am to ATLienTiger
So Arseblog says that says that Theo ran the 40 meter dash at 4.42 seconds, while Henry ran the same distance in 4.82 seconds.
This article doesn't mention an actual time, other then Wenger mentioning it was around 4.72 seconds. If Theo ran a 40 meter dash in 4.42 seconds, that means he ran 9.05 meters per second, which translates to a 4.04 40 yard dash time, which seems completely unbelievable, especially if we are to believe that Bellerin broke the record. I'd really love to know the actual record, and how they run and time it.

Well, Henry with the ball at his feet was incredibly fast and completely under control. Not just a kick and run kind of thing.
It's early, but care to explain why those two clubs sorting out something for a wing player makes Arsenal in for a Striker from one of them?

I read something about PSG needing to unload him to avoid issues with the financial fair play rules...take it FWIW, I'm not certain I understand those rules

PSG has been mainly playing Cavani out of position as a hybrid winger off Zlatan and it hasn't worked out so well.
If they could get Di Maria, who could be a more natural fit in their attack, they would perhaps be willing to part with Cavani but not otherwise. Cavani doesn't seem to be pushing hard for a move but one would think he'd jump at the chance to play his natural position.
They would probably need to sell someone in order to not be ridiculously out of FFP guidlines but they also have a lot of other players they could sell.

marin says his agent has asked for 300k pounds/wk in wages. that might be the downfall of any move. only chelsea would pay that shite (of teams who need a striker).

No way does Wenger go for that.

We're not buying Cavani. We don't need him. We've got enough in the attack. Giroud/Sanchez/Theo/Sanogo is a solid four to go to. Podolski in a pinch.
I'd prefer we focus on other areas of need.

i don't think we are either, but as for need...we didn't *need* özil last year. we had enough attacking mids. we didn't *need* sanchez this year, we had enough attackers. i think if he's available at a fee we can comfortably pay and a wage bill that isn't outrageous, we should get him. giroud is good. sanogo is good in the sense that the chaos he creates stimulates our attack. cavani is great. much better than either and in this lineup, a sure 30+ goal scorer (like he showed himself to be at napoli.
and i know cavani wouldn't be mutually exclusive from getting a CB. definitely means we'd be limited to one more foreign signing (due to home grown rules), but it wouldn't end our business. we'd sell poldi which would cut a high earner and bring in probably 10-15m.
what we need is world class talent, really at anywhere on the pitch other than no. 10 and b2b mf. said it on the transfer thread and i'll say it here, if cavani means no DM (which seems to be the case with or without cavani actually), i can live with our CM situation until next summer.

300K Pounds??
This can't be right. I could see him requiring 300k Euros/wk in France due to taxes, but no way he should be asking for 300k Pounds in England...

Really? I don't know much about Cavani, other than the role he plays for Uruguay. I'm not objecting to his purchase. I typed that previous post from my phone, so it was briefer than what I really meant, which was, I don't think we buy him, because we should be okay rotation wise up front and Arsene said he was done buying forwards.

had 33+ goals in all comps all 3 years at napoli. scored 25 playing out of position for PSG last season. generally plays out wide for uruguay too. in his prime at 27. he's no zlatan or suarez as an all-around player, but as pure no. 9s go (whatever that means), he's right behind bobby lewandowski and falcao for me. giroud and sanogo aren't near good enough to cause us to not sign him.

Agree. Of course it all depends on the money (and, well, that it's mainly conjecture PSG would sell him) but Cavani would be a significant upgrade on Giroud (and I think Giroud's a very good #9).
It's been a bit to Cavani's disadvantage that he's fast enough and capable enough in buildup play to be played off another target striker. He's at his best when he's more free to get in the area and out-quick or just out-bull defenders to poach goals ala Diego Costa.

true. my point is, if he's available and we can feasible get him, we should. cavani and a good CB to replace TV5 would make us favorites IMO.
