We used to shoot animals in bad shape. In my opinion it's less cruel than taking a sick animal to a strange stinky place to be killed by a stranger. You hit a dog at close range with buckshot and it's over fast bro. Far less expensive also.

That being said tossing a pet over a fence like a nuisance animal is fairly insensitive.

Her husband said "better that he wanted to play than sitting there whimpering in fear."

It doesn't cost anywhere near $300 to have an animal put down at a vet in Old Metairie. Where do you live that it costs so much?

Seriously, you should have called the cops and reported this. Your "friend" has a true a-hole for a husband. Hearing this just put me in a bad mood. What a POS!

my only issue with the story is throwing it over the fence.

that little body will start to stink and draw other animals to it.

he should have shot then buried the dog.

i have NO issue with him shooting the dog instead of making a vet visit.

Where did I say a bullet to the brain caused the dog pain?

I asked how is that more humane than taking it to a vet.

What would you report him for, littering and a weapon discharge?

Right... time to play? No... time to die! fricked up to do that to a dog you rescued just a short time before.

Take this inbred country hick BS elsewhere. There is a huge difference between killing a wild animal while hunting and killing a domesticated family pet.

i grew up in the country....if an animal had to be put down, it was shot

a shot to the head isn't exactly causing pain and suffering to the dog

hasn't anyone seen ole yeller?

I still know some country folk who do stuff like this.

That's how it was in the country back then and still is now in some places. There weren't small animal vets readily available. From time to time, you would come across animals that had been grievously injured on the side of the road or tangled up in a fence in the woods. You did what you had to do.

I wouldn't do it now. I live in the city, I can afford a vet, and I think it is easier on the animal. But don't criticize what you don't know.

Bullet to the head is a quick death if done right.

Paying someone else to kill it doesn't jive with me.

If youre going to put a dog down in that manner, it should be quick.........should be no missed shots.

Throwing the dog over the fence is the most disturbing part of this.

I have an issue with him living in city limits and missing the first shot. The ricochet could kill someone. The kind of person that misses a point blank shot should not use a gun to put their pets down IMO, especially in a city.

No there's not. It's a dog. It is that guys property. If he wanted to kill it rather than pay money to keep it, good for him. You're the same person who would bitch if he tried to give it away, claiming he's a shitty dog owner. GTFO

you are joking right?

for killing a damaged/dying dog?

not a dog that he mistreated, starved, beat.. a dog he rescued from a pond (that no doubt would have killed themselves) gave the dog a few good months of love, it got hurt and he took care of it himself.

and you want to have the guy arrested?

wow!

Uh, well discharging a weapon in the city is illegal, so sure that would be a good thing to start with.
