Morey has been questioned before in his go big or go home FA philosophy. But keep on talking
Go read Clutch Fans right now. Go read Clutch fans before the playoffs. Morey was a God to Rockets fans. I don't care what the national perspective on Morey is.

There is a reason everyone in H-town is flipping the frick out right now, and their precious Daryl Morey is actually being questioned for the first time.
Pretty obvious I'm singling out the Houston fans there. But you're idiotic, overly-aggressive, persona can't even bother to read before flaming.

Morey also trolled Cuban by firing back with a max offer to Dirk
how is that a troll? Dirk has zero interest in signing that offer sheet.

That was the whole point of making him a RFA this year...
Because now they can potentially sign another player AND keep Parsons.
Wouldn't it be a bigger gamble the way Morey is doing things now?
Couldn't he have say: Paid Chandler 1mil/yr, Sign Bosh/big name, and figure a contract w/ Chandler to pay him something like 3yr/36mil that he probably would have taken in the first place.

And there have been many people questioning Morey. Especially before he landed James Harden.
If you only read Clutchfans during times when big news hits, then you are getting a very distorted view.

The way it's being done now, the Rockets have more control.

quote:you are clearly talking out of your arse. Parsons wasn't taking some "hometown discount" the past 3 years. He played under the contract a usual 2nd round draft pick does. Clearly, he has exceeded that contract and is due a raise in pay. But morey's options were: exercise the 4th year team option and he would be a FA next summer, or allow him he become a RFA this summer and let the market set the price on parsons and have the ability to match. Those aren't great options, but Morey chose the one that would allow them to have the control: matching any offer vs begging CP to stay as a FA next year.
Morey essentially gambled that Chandler would take the hometown discount for them, after having already done so the past couple of seasons.
This is business as usual for a GM in the NBA. The stakes are high, the pressure is on, it's a players league, and all too often guys are overpaid bc of supply/demand. I've been saying for years that CP is a real nice player, but his value has always been his contract. If you're paying him $15M/yr, he better be a franchise cornerstone. I have my doubts he can be on a title contender....

fricking Cuban. I both love and hate him.

Houston sports fans are like soccer fans. They think their teams matter on the national stage.

ill be very interested to see your comments on him if he remains in houston. right now it looks like a bit of sour grapes.

Aww me so sowwy your super GM isn't perfect, and you are just now realizing it. You are COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that Parsons has a market as a trade chip in your post. You are COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that Morey vastly misjudged the amount Chandler would get in FA.
Your whole point is that because Parsons signed the 1st contract, it is business as usual. Of course he had no other option. However, the contract he signed was very long for a 2nd round pick. His agent and the Rockets screwed him. Expecting him to take a hometown discount after getting F'd the first time around is unrealistic and moronic.

Speaking of talking out of your arse, most 2nd round picks do not sign 4 year deals.

I live in Houston and listen to sports talk. I will take that over some homer website. But apparently you have your finger on the pulse of Rocket fans
I'm telling you Morey is liked but has been questioned plenty. Are you calling me out? Lulz

So your pulse of Talk Radio Hosts and a few random callers is > than the literal thousands of people that frequent Clutch Fans at any given moment in time?
I can tell you that locally I will take the opinions of PT/PR (homer sites) over the maroons that call into 105.3 and The Sports Hangover.

Clutchfans has a lot of group think
Houston sports radio> anything in Louisiana

quote:maybe Daryl Morey wants him long term and doesn't want to just trade him. Sure, he'll have some value at the trade deadline, but maybe the rockets are positioning to keep him. No one outside the rocket front office knows for sure. Not me and damn sure not you

quote:well, I'm certainly not knowledgable on the league wide proclivity for signing 2nd round picks, but CP did sign a 4 year deal with the rockets. Here's a link to your favorite website, clutch fans: LINK
