You are correct, sir, only it's "the market" not "the free market" because the current market conditions are far from free. It would be "free" (or at least "free-er") if there was no welfare state and no minimum wage laws. You can have a welfare state with closed borders, or no welfare state with open borders. You can't have both.
Very true. I love the meme "we are a country of immigrants!"
We were a country of immigrants who came here to create an opportunity for themselves. Now it is an opportunity to be given one by the taxpayers.

I am absolutely, positively in favor of amnesty and a work visa.
As long as the illegal immigrant declares their status, returns to their home country, and applies for amnesty from that location. Upon granting of amnesty they will be awarded a work visa upon the stipulation that they have no vote, pay local and federal taxes on their income. Once they are granted their work visa they can be here for ten years and then apply for citizenship.
Open borders? No.
Blanket amnesty? No.

I like that idea a lot but we would still have to fix our border problem

This is 100 percent accurate. Unfortunately, many Free Republic/ Breitbart reading types seem to care much more about the big government option (the former) moreso than the small-government option (the latter).
