B/c Miles is the butt of many jokes when CFB comes up during my travels & people realize I'm an LSU fan.

I don't know where you travel but I have had the opposite experience. I live in Alabama and travel extensively throughout the country and when Miles is mentioned almost everytime I get a positive reaction. People love his uniqueness and respect his winning record.

As long as the program continues to win and make a profit, I don't care if people like us.

However, I do care if someone unreasonably disrespects our program. I especially care if it's done publicly or in the media. Maybe I'm wrong to care, but unmerited verbal bashing is something I don't stand for. If someone is going to disrespect LSU or any of it's coaches in front of me, they better have some info to back it up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My experiences are the same as I travel around. Just came back from Aggie town and was telling some of them that Miles doesnt have the support of 15-20% of the Tiger fan base and they thought I was exaggerating. Some of them still think Im FOS.
Same thing happened on my trip to South Carolina at a BWW in April.
A friend of mine in Dallas, UT grad, just the other day was saying how great a coach we have. I told him many LSU fans think otherwise and he was like, What/Why?
It is what it is. At this point, many LSU fans have made up their minds on Miles and arent changing.

You are admitting that you are in the fringe element of LSU fans and the general public?

I don't think anybody is going that far. It's more like something to debate. Have you seen the threads posted here in the last couple of weeks? I've seen some of the lamest thread topics. At least you can go at it with somebody when they write a for clicks article. I like to take a couple hours out of my day to look at college football related things every day. Twenty minutes here, 40 minutes there, whatever. It's the typical offseason thread.

OP is spot on.

Every single diehard, semi-intelligent LSU fan knows more about LSU and the football program than ANY national sportswriter. Who the frick cares what some a-hole from Athlon Sports thinks??

Go tigers

This can make the difference in some recruits choices IMO.
There are far less trophies in the cases for many coaches rated above.
Some make LSU fans laugh. DWI.

More than likely they were just being nice to you b/c you're probably a nice guy.
None of those fan bases would trade Miles for their coach. Same with bama & AU fans that the other fella mentioned.

If that's "respect" you can have it. I'd rather other fan bases covet my coach.

Idk what im admitting to. Seems several other fan bases think higher of Miles than many LSU fans as I travel.

stop being an emotional little girl
If you're more concerned that the fans of other teams "like" (respect) your coach rather than that they would want him as their own coach....then you are exactly part of the problem.

Yes, they practically universally love his uniqueness (as someone mentioned earlier) and his quirks & he's a likeable guy.
Doesn't mean they want him as their coach...there's a difference.

Some of the fans may not want him, but most of the college ADs would take him in a heartbeat. I'm happy with that.
