Wrote him a short, respectful email asking him to CONSIDER getting quotes from the visiting HC and players after baseball games instead of simply mailing in the 3 standard quotes from CPM & the LSU star of the game. Just to get a different view point from visiting teams. He sent back a blunt note to the effect "I am a professional sports writer & you are not, so let me do my job & you do yours. " Forwarded it to the sports mgr at The Advocate & got a short but polite apology. I think the word is "Karma".

While I think the posters on these boards go WAY overboard with their criticism of the media, these assessments of Matt Harris are very accurate:

The writing was on the wall when they hired Ramon. I'm sure Sheldon will still contribute in plenty of ways and provide additional coverage.

Maybe Sheldon wanted off the Saints beat after all these years...that is a grind going from BR to NO all the time. Just speculating...maybe he is ready to slow down after a number of years on the job.

The Advocate hired a second Saints writer that will live in New Orleans, so Sheldon's days on Saints beat are over unless there's maybe a big ticket item such as a home playoff game or Super Bowl to bolster coverage.
