Golf and Scruffy has played golf only once in his life.
There is a lot of money in it and endorsements, it isn't as hectic as other sports, the injury rate is much lower than most sports so career would last longer.

Which one has the best combination of "lots of money" and "not going to be a vegetable at 45?"

Baseball because...
1. I love baseball
2. Salaries are very high
3. Minimal long term health problems
4. I bet it's fun as shite to mash 450 foot home runs

15 year career. 2.5 million per year. No long term injuries. Yeah, I'd take that job.

Lol Mickelson gets like 15 mil a year from callaway. He gets like 40-50 mil from all his sponsors a year. Barclays kpmg and callaway.

I would definitely go with tennis. The entire globe is the regional expanse of your "league", moving around from continent to continent as each season goes on. It's international play all the time. The travel is by far the best. The cash money from winning and global endorsements is cray big. Bitches all over the world wanting a piece of you can't be bad either.

Can't be that frustrating if you're the best in the world. You're spending Thursday-Sunday on a beautiful course while making bank

You could be the top athlete in any sport...which one would you choose?
I would choose to be 300 MLB game winner.

"I like baseball but season is too long"
Great point. This is why being a pro baseball player would suck. You play baseball and travel literally almost everyday from March to September or October. Even with the great money that would get old in a hurry.
"Probably golf. Pick your tournaments, take time off as you wish."
Easily this. I know many will argue the "athlete" part with golf although PGA Tour players are in the best physical shape they've ever been. My professional sports dream would to be a highly attractive Top 50 ranked golfer in the world who usually wins a tournament or 2 a year. You'd be guaranteed to make a million a year at a bare minimum while picking and choosing to play in as few or as many tournaments when and where you want to. There are OT 10s following around many of the single players at events and many of tour wives are smokeshows. You make great money without in many cases without the hassle of the overbearing fame that comes with it, OT 8 to 10 wife or girlfriend, complete freedom over your schedule where you can take a week or weeks off, and potentially an extremely long career where you visit and experience some of best golf courses and resorts in the country and world all with almost zero risk of a debilitating injury.
P.S. Golf has some of the most underrated and impressive "talent" associated with it. Google Dustin Johnson's fiance, Jason Dufner's wife, or even David Tom's wife to see what I mean.

Golf would be first, and a close second would be golf.

I would be a soccer player. Make a shite ton of money. It's much easier to switch teams and play where you want. You can play into your late 30s. Then you can come back to the MLS in your later years and earn one more big paycheck as a player while being in Seattle, LA, New York, etc.

Soccer. Especially for an American. You would be a national hero, and represent the Red, White, and Blue in the world's most popular sport.
Plus the traveling in Europe, all the European women , and being able to finish your career off in the States.

Easily basketball. It's fun, you have to stay in shape but you're a freak athlete so conditioning/actual work isn't quite as mandatory, It has easily the biggest fame factor in the US, white people and black people both like you, you're tall and you get to play INSIDE. And everybody wishes they could throw down a badass dunk.

I'll go with basketball, not sure I'd call being the top golfer an "athlete".
