Tonight was a solid episode. Old Garvey is interesting and Tom finally did man up. Nora seems pretty cool and fits in nicely but Matt hasn't done much since the 3rd episode and he feels shady.

Kevin has a lot of shite on his plate that will take time to work itself out. Jill is ok but the rest of the high school gang need to step up.

The GR wasnt a big deal this episode but they have been so far. Im not sure what they plan to do but they get my vote as most likely to get FUBAR.

Somebody wanted me to explain to them what this show is about n what's going on. I was like man, I wouldn't even know where to start.

I bet they hooked up. Thats why i think she didn't want to go to the party and knew he didn't remember the night before.

That might make sense.

As I recall, he had just been turned down by Nora because the GR ruined the mood.

His memory lapses are annoying at times.

We got to see Nora naked so it was a good day.

Easily the best part of that episode.

But the forced mystery is still pissing me off.
Garvey's dad was as excessively cryptic as humanly possible during that diner scene.

If I was popping as many pills as Garvey was I'd be doing shite in my sleep and not remembering crap about it too. I don't think he hooked up with that girl, but I do think she saw him do some strange things and act really weird and is keeping quite about it.

I am trying to figure out if this show is leading someplae, like a 2nd event. Is Garvey's old man really crazy or is he "awake" to what is really going on. Is Garvey waking up to what is going on or is he just plain going nuts? Is this show really leading to something or just showing us the downward spiral after a tramatic event?

Nora is awesome BTW. She went from completely nutso to one of the hottest, coolest characters on the show. Garvey seems to kick his issues when he's around her but then gets pulled into bizarro world by everything else. Maybe he needs a hug from Holy Wayne.

If a hug from Holy Wayne takes away all your pain why was that one dude snorting lines of coke? Why would Wayne trust one of his impregnated concubine with a drug addict?

References to the national geographic-

Michelle apparently mutters the spider that lives underwater on this weeks episode, which is one those stories in the nat geo

Apparently in his dream 'Cairo' is heard on his radio. This also the title of next weeks episode. Cairo is another story on the cover

And Minoan riddle is the disappearance of their culture on Crete. No one knows what happened to them.

I think this show is awesome now. Really hoping HBO renews it. I can see it turning out to be a huge series.

Anyway, here is an interesting article from the co-creator of The Leftovers.

Thanks for the link. The author's heavy influence from Our Town helps explain a lot with the intended purpose of this plot.

Good stuff,

I just finished episode 7 and I am royally confused. I have no idea what is going on but it's very intriguing. One moment I think it's biblical and Wayne is trying to have an antichrist baby and the next minute I think it's going into some type of zombie route. Who knows?

Episode 8 im sure will leave me the same way as the first 7.

Excited about tonight's episode. The one person I find myself pulling for second most after Garvey is Tom.

I didn't read the book, but the co-producers have made it pretty clear that they're not much interested in explaining the "event" or where the hell those people went. It's really just about the effect on the people left behind. I think there will be some people pissed off and SFP will be here to rant about how shitty that type of show is.
