David patrick, Ben simmons godfather is an assistant coach for the basketball team. I'm sure that doesn't hurt

Absolutely the reason ^, and he also has the chest. Said he wants to be apart of starting something special. I also believe him being from Australia and growing up there.. he doesn't really have any other ties or fandom of all these other basketball schools.
LSU continues to work on that Aussie/Florida (he's from both) pipeline, regardless of sport.
