LOL
If you think every School including us does not have jerks you are mistaken. While it is different being with my Gator friends, I walk across campus to the LSU Cent. Fla tailgate I encounter many fans and I do wear my colors.
Just be nice and most will be nice as well

Oh, I know LSU has their jerks. I know Mizzou has them. I know Duke has them. I know Ohio State has them, etc etc etc.
But I also know that all gameday experiences at those schools are not the same because there are jerks at each.
It isn't just the fan interaction. It's more than that. I had better fan interaction at Bama than Tennessee, but Tennessee had the Smokey Mountains so it helped make up for what some of their fans lacked.
The problem is a UF trip doesn't have the Smokey Mountains. It doesn't have the tailgate environment LSU has with NOLA nearby providing top notch dining options. It doesn't have The Grove, it doesn't have downtown Nashville for example.
IF you can parlay a UF trip into something with Disney or Miami, or Tampa it makes it alot better, but outside of that the trip sucks.
The fans are as bad as you will find, the dining is about as bad as you will find, the climate/weather is about as bad as you will find, the police is about as bad as you will find and the opportunities for visiting fans to truly be welcomes is as bad as you will find.
If you know people or live in the area it helps with alot of that...if not, it sucks.

I'm sorry Vol fans weren't welcoming. Next time the Tigers play in Knoxville, you are more than welcome at my tailgate.

I actually had no trouble at all when I went to gainesville and actually enjoyed the trip...when I went, you could drink on campus without a problem as long as you weren't acting like a dumbass...just be aware that a lot of the shite that goes on at LSU on saturdays would certainly not be tolerated. there are certain roads that you definetly cannot cross with alcohol. I found everyone pretty friendly and had no problems at all...
florida fans told us to leave a vehicle on campus the night before the lots get locked down and then take a taxi back to it on gameday...worked like a charm, too....

Take an RV. Park in visitor lot with the other Tiger fans. Don't leave the motor home parking other than for the game. You will have a blast.
This, we did it in 2006 and it was awesome

In would pass. Not worth it. Living here for 12 years I went for about the first 4 trips here but the hassle from the campus police, the crappy fans and just overall crappy atmosphere have made me stop going

Is it even a trip worth making?
Gainesville isn't the greatest, find a bar near campus to pre-game at. As others have said, the cops are dicks about booze.
The Swamp at its peak is right up there with Tiger Stadium for best atmosphere inside the stadium, in my opinion. It can get loud during a night game there.

I have been to every venue except for UK and Mizzou.
LSU and UF are tops with UGA/Bama close behind.
UF fans are no more "mean" than any other fans in the SEC. Unfortunately, every fan base has their share of idiots.
LSU and UF game atmospheres are very similar.
LSU and UF game"day" atmospheres are very different. LSU is amazing when it comes to hanging out and eating pregame.
Therefore, I give overall experience to LSU.
Overall, I think I call it like I see it for the most part. It's hard not to have a great time at a UF game. Like I said above, you run into your share of "idiots", but you also run into great fans. I have experienced that at every venue.
I say go to the game. You're missing out on a great game experience if you choose not to.

Worst road trip experience ever, will not go bad if I has free
50 yard line tickets and private jet to bring me there.
Fans suck
Tailgating suck
No alcohol past side walk
Cops were total dicks
No Port a lets // cover charge to get into every bar use to use the bathroom.

did UF once. bicycle cops shut us down for playing drinking games. we were not being obnoxious they were just straight up d icks. its a tiny town, the bar scene is lacking, dont go there, come to LSU its way better

By far and away the worst road trip. Sheriff deputy's frisked my 60 yo mom as we entered the stadium. She doesnt drink. Deputy frisked her and told her LSU's reputation proceeds yall. I've done my fair share of stupid stuff on LSU's campus and at away games, but I have never seen such hatred for opposing teams as I have in Gainesville. Also the 1st time I have ever seen empty seats in a top 5 matchup(2006). Natural/crowd noise isnt that impressive. All piped in. Not to mention their band absolutely sucks...

I went when my nephew was a FU student and had a blast, particularly in harassing him when LSU beat them.
You cannot walk with open containers on the sidewalks across from campus. As long as you comply with that, you should be fine.
I have been to every SEC stadium except Mizzou since they just joined the SEC and Gainesville was not the worst trip for me. Ole Miss was.
Everyone has a bad experience with a home team's fans. Mine happened in Oxford.
