Don't wear opposing team gear, don't drink alcohol, don't play loud music or music that a UF tailgate next to you may not like. Pretty much sums it up!

I have heard numerous horror stories from LSU fans who made the trip. Many have stopped going but ones that do just stopped tailgating and started going to bars and restaraunts to hangout before the game.

if you're college aged, Auburn will be a much better road trip. I always enjoy that one.

I have been to Auburn and enjoyed it. The only 3 SEC stadiums I haven't been to are Florida, Mizzou and A&M.

After reading this thread, it's clear we need to either find an alumni tailgate or hit a bar before the game. I can deal with obnoxious Bros, but cops are different.

I assume it will be in the same place. The Tampa, Orlandeaux, Miami, and other Tiger Alumni had a tailgate with DJ and plenty of food on Stadium drive in between the baseball field and the O'Connell center. O'Connell center was open for bathrooms which was nice. Never saw an incident with campus police while there.

I went in 08 and 10. You can drink on campus.. just don't be an idiot about it and you shouldn't have any problems.

It's good trip but I have had more fun at other venues. It's worth going just to see a game in the Swamp.. which I consider the second best stadium atmosphere in the SEC.

Funny you mention that about the hwy patrol, I was once stopped for going too slow near campus Bc I was trying to get my bearings....fortunately didn't get a ticket. Though one if their finest got me the next day (after we won) for going about 5mph over.

FHP blows dick.

It's fun to go at least once. Gainsville is not near as fun as Athens, Knoxville, Baton Rouge or Tuscaloosa. Tailgating and bar scene is mediocre, but the stadium experience is above average.

We were setup next to another big UF tailgate. Paying no attention to them, they kept turning their sound system to our tailgate and then began to move into on our area with over the top comments (Katrina, stuff directed at girls in the group, etc.)

So someone got a cop at the corner to come over and get the UF group to chill. What ended up happening was the cop told us our music was too loud, drinking games were not allowed, and I was lucky I wasn't cited for distributing alcohol to minors when the minors that were there were random LSU students that brought their own beer.

They said if we were caught with our music up again or playing beer pong that they would shut it down. The UF group was not reprimanded.

Based on the horror stories I have heard, I'm surprised you guys weren't cuffed and thrown in the slammer and forced to do 1000 hrs of community service in FL

I have been to every game since '98 as I live in S. W. Fla. And go with Gator friends we have a great tailgate behind the Catholic Church behind Univ. Ave., then go to the Central Florida LSU club.
At the C F tailgate the band will get out of the bus and play a few songs before going into the stadium, great people, close to the stadium and we can drink.
Gainesville is no different than any other Campus a few a@@@@@@@ ruin it for everyone.
On Friday we have a Koonass/Gator golf tournament at the Univ. of Florida Golf Course

Stadium is cool. I really liked the Swamp. Built down in the ground and in the shape of a box with big concrete walls everywhere so everything echoes. Gets crazy loud.

Other than that, it wasnt a fun experience. Been twice and both times werent fun. My least favorite road trip in the SEC. And I can have fun anywhere, it doesnt have to be a big school or a party school. I had a blast at Miss St, Vandy, etc. Its just the people in Gainesville. They werent fun at all nor were they welcoming to opposing fans and stuff.

And dont try and sneak alcohol into the stadium. They have people with binoculars looking at the opponents sections in the stadiums and when they see someone mixing a drink or with a flask or whatever they send in the security guards and take them to the holding cell in the stadium. I know this because a few of my friends were brought to the holding cell and the security guards told them how they spotted them.

The only thing wrong with that statement is everything.

You live in Florida and go with Florida fans so your experience is tainted. For the average LSU fan, the experience sucks.
