it'll be at least another season before Noel adds enough size to play significant minutes. Asik would provide a good stopgap until he is ready.

Supposedly, the Rockets are offering their 1st round pick to whoever takes Asik, Lin or both for a future 1st round pick.. Not a bad deal for the really wealthy teams in the league..

They are offering their 1st this year or a future 1st or both? (Can't you not trade back-to-back 1st round picks?)

I don't think we can take on Asik with Gordon's salary, right? However, if we could do a 3 team trade, I'd take Asik and Lin and dump Gordon in a heartbeat.

I'm pretty sure that we can take on Asik for Ely (who has no guaranteed money) if we give up the chance to use our MLE and let Smiht/Morrow walk.

You can trade them a future 1st round pick and they will send you Lin, Asik and their 1st round pick (#25)...

There are a few teams that can absorb the salaries and then have the space next summer..

Sounds about right. With Asik you might only need one of Withey/Ajinca. Let one go and you have about $7.5 million in cap space. Ely for Asik would work then but you'd only have the $2.7 million Cap Room Exception to address the SF spot.

Can't trade back to back future 1sts. You could trade this years pick and then after the draft you can trade the 2015.

The Sacramento Kings are fielding offers from three teams for the No. 8 pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, sources with direct knowledge told ESPN on Monday.

Sources said the Kings have two deals that could be done prior to Thursday’s 2 p.m. ET trade deadline to change the draft order and one would be a draft night deal, depending on which players are available when the Kings select.

The three deals would return multiple draft picks and a veteran player to the Kings for the No. 8 pick.

With multiple draft picks coming back I think it's safe to say we aren't one of the interested teams.

Bulls send Boozer and draft picks to Kings for 8.

Bulls sign Melo, send 8, Butler, Gibson, future picks for Love.

I think we'll deal with the bulls or suns

Just a hunch because they have picks in the middle/later stages and multiple.

Or the whole asik thing could happen.

In addition to the Miami Heat's obvious desire to retain James by any means necessary and pursue Anthony if he urges them to do so, sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks are among the teams mulling potential trades designed to clear enough cap space to be able to recruit the two stars and close friends.

The Los Angeles Lakers, meanwhile, had begun exploring such machinations even before the opt outs of James and Anthony had become known, according to ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne.

The Lakers have been trying in recent days to package the No. 7 overall pick in Thursday's draft with the expiring contract of Steve Nash (who's owed $9.7 million next season) to free up enough room to offer James and Anthony at least $16 million each next season to join forces with Kobe Bryant, Shelburne reported.

Am I wrong to think that the Gordon to Pacers for scrubs trade is realistic and a good option for the Pacers? Because if you can pull that off you'd then be able to absorb Nash for #7, essentially trading Gordon for #7.

Would that be like a Rashard Lewis type of thing where we then pay Nash whatever it is but in retrospect we saved money by getting rid of Gordon?

Yes. Nash is effectively retired but still likes getting paid. I'm not sure if we'd buy him out or if he'd just say "that's too much paper work, just mail me the checks."

ESPN says HOU working to trade Asik & Lin, clearing space to add ONE of Melo or LeBron. Imagine Beverley, Harden, Parsons, LeBron, Dwight.

Wouldn't like helping Houston get Lebron, but if we think that it makes us better, then frick it.
