I really want to be a big pelicans fan but the nba seems to make it near impossible for a small market team to climb up without paying what seems to be a large luxury tax.

Memphis/Portland/OKC/SA/Indy have done fine over the past couple of years.

You just have to be smart like anything else.

Also never read bleacher report

Really, with Anthony Davis, I think the Pelicans are only a couple of players away from being a contending team. But it's going to take some work and wise choices to fill in those pieces.

I agree. My biggest concern is with Demps; this off-season is really big for us. There's 2 scenarios that are good and one that could be disastrous.
Scenarios 1:
Trade EG and don't take on another long term bad contract...even if we have to give up a pick.
Scenario 2:
We sit and wait until next year when unloading EG won't cost as much.
Bad scenario:
Demps feels pressure and makes a stupid move that kills us for another 4 years.

I just don't have any faith in Demps and hope Benson's people are now knowledgeable enough to stop Dell when he goes into full insanity mode.

Full insanity mode are all these rumors we're hearing, but they make no sense. The only way they look at trading Holiday for a high pick is as part of a bigger deal to get someone like Kevin Love. They are not trading Holiday to draft a rookie.

What I think is the scary prospect for this year is spending the assets we'll need to move Gordon in an attempt to get better in the short term. Like trading our 2015 pick for Chicago's pick this year and drafting someone. Basically doubling down on the current core including Gordon.

Yep. I'm fine with them basically doing nothing this summer- try to resign Morrow, get wing help and look for a 3rd big man. I'd much prefer that over the Danny Ferry in Cleveland experience of cutting their nose to spite their face.

I've come around to the school of thought that we stick with what we have. Unless a miracle happens and we get to be part of a Anthony or Love trade, we'll keep EG and spend what we have. This does 2 things: allows the team Demps put together to play together and proves if he's genius or a nut, and 2. opens the door to move EG next off-season and go after better players.

pretty much where i'm at also.

I'd love for my Pels to land a second big star like KLove, it has to happen at some point if we're ever going to be serious contenders in the west, but I would rather do nothing than make a boneheaded move this offseason
