Benhamin made the thread because its a good idea. When you've got a 100+ page game thread for the US, its a lot easier to discuss other things if you can start threads like "Fastest goal in WC history?" or "Altidore suffers hamstring injury" that occur on every other board for big games. That way there can still be an existing soccer board where you can discuss transfers and future games and one with spoilers.

All he was doing with this thread was point out the uselessness of the no score rule if people just start "Adios Spain" threads after the game.

Then take out "Olympics" and insert "NFL season".

i think all discussion about individual games should be in the individual game threads (or redzone thread), too

same with CFB games

OK how about the MSB during NCAA tournament? If I wanted to watch a specific game on DVR later in the day I'd just stay away from all social media. I'd have to live a day without posting on here or twitter. The horror.

This only happens once every 4 years. I think y'all can live with it.

There should be no hints to game outcomes in thread titles on the MSB during the NFL season?

If you believe that, that's fine. But I'm on the other side of that argument. If there's a match/game/fight I want to see but haven't had a chance to watch it yet, I avoid all places that might spoil it.

I give up. I will just start banning everyone of the incessant cry babies who RA the shite out of every "non regular" who posts on "their" board.

Honestly, and I know its late for this, but a World Cup score board would solve all of this

Here's what I need to know:

Where can I post my "Fastest Goal in WC History?" thread when Dempsey scores in the first 17 seconds against Portugal? Because I still have no clue what the answer is since it got whacked.

You have to post it in the game thread where it will get buried under 4 pages of posts

That's never going to happen. Its a sports message board. If you don't want to know what happens for a game stay off of sports message boards

We have a tiger rant and LSU score board. Saints talk and Saints score board. SEC rant and SEC score board. What's the difference?

If the World Cup wasn't taking place right now the soccer board wouldn't have 10 new threads in a 12 hour period.

Big difference

I feel like there is a lot of misunderstanding going on so let me try and clear up my points:

1) This is NOT about having scores in thread titles. Period. I don't know why this keeps being brought up.

2) Keeping everything related to a big game in ONE thread is unrealistic. It's too hard to have organized discussion when people are posting about so many different things in one thread. It works fine for games with less people posting, but when tons of people are on the board every post just gets buried. I'm not saying there has to be a new thread for every "OMG GUYZZZZ WE SCORED!!!" but when something is significant enough to warrant it's own topic, for example "Was that the fastest goal in WC history?", posters should be able to create those threads freely.

3) I only think this issue really applies to USMNT games, therefore TN Bhoy's solution of allowing spoiler threads for US matches only sounds like a good compromise to me. I still think a WC Score Board would be better, but sounds like the admin's aren't down.

I don't have a problem with a "fastest wc goal" or "Jozy down with hamstring" thread. 4 years ago we did have a bunch of "zomg. Us scores threads!" Durning the wc. I thought people wanted to avoid that this time. But whatevs.

I mean, I really don't care about that. I'm not posting during US games

but I guess my point was that its unrealistic to expect absolutely no spoilers on the soccer board.

That is what will be allowed and some have a major problem with that.

That is not wanted and will be removed.

I'm cool with that.

Question: Why is the STUpdate thread anchored?

All regulars know what that's about. And regulars are probably the only ones who would care.
