Agreed, that's a good modern Superman while keeping in touch with what made him great. I think we'll be seeing that in the sequels and JLA movies.

[quote]On this board, there is a ridiculous overrating of The Avengers and a ridiculous underrating of Man of Steel[/quote}/]
yes
avengers in fact has more plot holes, the entire second act is boring nonsense. Really, the only good thing I can say about it is how well the actions framed in the last 20 minutes, the scene where they're fighting monsters I've never seen before, know nothing about, and don't care about.
MOS has ridiculous advertising, some poor acting by the two leads (it's a superman movie though) amy adams shouldn't even be in the movie at all, there are some glaring plot holes and metropolis takes too much of a beating, which I could overlook if it wasn't bidnass as usual in the final scene
MOS>avengers.

I mean I could write a fricking 500 page thesis about how MOS disappointed me, but it's only because it does the difficult things well, and it completely whiffs on the easy shite
Jor-El...they did this all wrong
Lois Lane...shouldn't have been in the movie and if she was, her role should've been scaled down
Casting...amy adams was fricking awful and the writing for her character was worse
The god damn advertising...it kind of kills my suspense when IHOP is such an important location in a movie that's trying to be serious
Superman is an idiot...he says some really stupid things...and at one point unknowingly starts aiding Zod.
Personally, I thought superman was never really faced with any difficult decision and his arc was kind of non existent...
with all of that said, it's a fricking superman movie, and it is stylish (especially the B movie sci fi stuff)

Why would you think that? MOS had absolutely nothing in common with Superman: The Animated Series.

I honestly don't like Russell Crowe in this role. It should've been Jon Hamm in this role. The father of Superman should actually look like Superman would be his real son.
I absolutely loved Lara and I was glad she had a bigger role. She's very underrepresented in the comics even though she's Superman's mother. I loved the actress playing her.

It really makes you appreciate the GOAT Lois Lane from Smallville even more.

the fight scenes were excellent but it wasn't just the ihop sceneS they're fighting in front of the worst sears advertisement ever
these two blatant marketing scenes make the 7/11 and others stick out even more
it was way too much
- how does FJorel know Jorel was murdered by zod, jor el was alive when he made this thing and put it in the ship, how does it know these things that happened after its creation?
- too life like. I thought it should have had a more ghostly feel to it, very monotonous because the responses are programmed and would be recorded without situational context
- the appearance is worse...why couldn't jor el just be a computer program that controls the ship and has his voice...maybe his face comes out of one of those weird things with the metallic faces. No it's just pop and son talking it up.
- even in krypton, computers shouldn't be emotional. When jor-el cannot convince zod, which that scene is weird because zod points out how stupid all of this is, he resorts to taunting zod...what? even zod is fricking confused.
- jor el has a suit with the symbol of his house in a ship that is 20,000 years old and this is also before krypton started their eugenics programs...and why does it have a cape, no one else has a cape
My biggest gripe is the thematic inconsistency. Again, I thought this movie was about choices and freedom, yet those themes were thrown away the second zod showed up.
again, I really like this movie

It was my understanding that he transferred his consciousness into the hologram program (or whatever it was called) and that it was "him" talking and rationalizing with Zod.

New Batman mask and cape at Comic-Con.

I was wondering if we should make one SDCC thread or are we just piecing the info into separate threads
Posted on 7/23/14 at 8:19 pm to BlacknGold
Maybe the OP could update the subject of the thread. Maybe 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Mega Thread'?

I mean I meant in general. There's going to be a ton of info coming out on all things comics related. Jw if we should put it all in one spot. I guess it's better to put it in a respective thread about the different topics
Posted on 7/23/14 at 8:22 pm to BlacknGold
Yea, this one was not that important. We've seen the Bat suit already. When a WW pick comes out, it'll deserve it's own thread.
