That 'brand,' involves promoting Fantex, a company that's selling stock in Davis. Fantex paid the 49ers tight end $4 million up front in return for 10 percent of his future earnings from football, endorsements or any other income tied to his NFL career.

WTF was he on Shark Tank or something?

Of course he does. And it has nothing to do with his upcoming contract negotiations.

The man is working on his brand alright.

Please tell me your wedding wasn't on the same day of a Saints playoff game....

I don't know how you could have allowed that to happen.

I got married with a JoP the day of the game, we left there and went straight to a bar to celebrate and watch the game.

We had a reception a few months later which no absolutely would not have been on a game day.

Its a business people, you can't get mad at the Saints for trying to get by paying Graham as a tight end, they have a cap to meet and every penny counts. I don't blame them, the Saints are the one that scouted him and found that diamond in the rough, Jimmy will get what he deserves and then some when his contract come up.

I think his contract is up, don't you?? Anyways, all this talk about cap space and all that shite. They just went out and signed Byrd to a huge deal and matched the Bush offer sheet as well as sign other players. Can't be to concerned about cap space. Look, Graham has been there how long now?? 3 seasons. And has quietly toiled while putting up ridiculous numbers because of his skill. Yeah, some of it was Brees throwing to him, but his freakish skills is what made it happen. People need to acknowledge that. I don't agree with him wanting to get paid like a receiver, but the Saints have used him like a receiver so you can't blame him for wanting to get what he can while he can. This is a violent, short game. You never know how long you got.

I don't think you realize we acknowledge it and that he is a great player. At the same time, Gronk put up some crazier numbers before his freak injuries and got paid as the highest paid TE in history. He played both inside and out as well, but he's more complete of a TE than Jimmy Graham, but Gronk is on par with him in the receiving department.

Jimmy, before this past season, lined up more as a TE than a WR iirc. This season he lined up WR > TE. Does he deserve top 5 WR money? Personally I don't think so, I'd rather the top 5 WRs in this league than Jimmy Graham. Does he deserve to be paid like the top 1-2 TE? Absolutely.

We beat this horse over and over, but the matter of the fact is majority of the teams in this league would line him up everywhere like how we did as well. Give me a WR that lines up as a TE, you won't get or at all. I can surely give you names of TEs that get paid like TEs that line up as a WR more often than Jimmy.

I agree Gronkowski is slightly better than Graham because he is a blocker, but that's it. Dude has shown to be injury prone. Graham is a better athlete. I don't know where you get Gronkowski has put up better crazier numbers than Graham because that's not true. Het set that record that year in the last game because Brady made sure he did otherwise it would have been Graham's record.(I think Graham would have broken that record last season had he not gotten injured in a couple of games) And though Gronkowski has lined up some at receiver, the bulk of that was going to jailbird Hernandez before he got put away. Hernandez wasn't a true TE.

but as I said I don't care if they pay him like a TE. Just do it because the guy deserves to be paid and not have this drag on. He didn't complain the time he's been here. Just went out and played ball. Just pay the man now and I hope this doesn't go into the season with him playin for the franchise minimum.

Graham has been and always will be a TE. He's one of the best TEs so he should command whatever salary he can. That being said, there's no way the Saints should be forced to give him top WR money because they used a franchise tag on him. The NFL considers TEs and WRs to be different positions. The Saints have always considered him a TE and I'm sure one can find several public statements where Graham referred to himself as a TE or did not contradict a reporter when he referred to Graham as a TE during an interview. There's no way the Saints should blow their budget to protect any TE, even Graham. The Saints should pay Graham top TE money but not top WR money. Period.
