Just to check, are those in this thread who's taking up for the administrations shitty home scheduling actual season ticket holders(who pay for tickets)?

Who wouldn't prefer the hot asphalt of cowboys stadium over South Beach? Yeah these neutral site games are a kick in the balls to season ticket holders.

You are right that scheduling a Miami is good for the future. It's a quality opponent and would be helpful in the new playoff format. But it's not only about the matchup, but also where the matchup occurs. There is clearly no concern towards appeasing season ticket holders who are growing sick and tired of the increasing costs and the seemingly decreasing quality of the OOC games (and yes, I am a season ticket holder). It also seems those in charge of scheduling have zero qualms about giving potential tax revenues from a home game in Baton Rouge to other locales outside of the state. As a taxpayer in this great state, I take major issue with that.

I'm 100% in agreement with you that a home and home series would be a better option. I lived in Louisiana my whole life until last year when I moved to Houston for work. I know what LSU in general means to the local economy. But these neutral site games, in primetime on ESPN, are all the rage right now. Playing in those keeps you in the national spotlight and in the forefront of recruits' minds. Kids get excited to play in a venue like AT&T Stadium and that opportunity is a great selling point to high school athletes.
With that being said, Miami would be one awesome road trip.

Good question ! If one is not a paying customer of TAF....I can see the allure of these "bowl game" type neutral site games. If, you are one of those that actually helps PAY the bills at LSU, you should be really pissed at the horrid home OOC opponents !

100k people at Tiger Stadium for a big OOC night matchup with Miami would draw as much national spotlight and you cannot convince me that a big night game at Tiger Stadium wouldn't help recruiting far more than a neutral site game in Arlington or Houston.

LSU will always have big night games in Death Valley. They may not always have the opportunity to play a major neutral site game whenever they want to.

LSU does NOT have big OOC night games in Death Valley. That's the frickin' point. Just because we can run off to Texas leaving the season ticket holders and taxpayers holding their dicks doesn't mean we should.

That's not the issue. It's about getting a big matchup and not losing any athletic department revenue. We get a huge payout from these games and don't have to give up an away game to do it. If we did a home and away with Miami, we'd get one year of a huge payout and 1 year of nothing.

LSU Athletics are in the business of making money and furthering the brand. They don't care about you and they owe Baton Rouge nothing. The sooner you accept this, the better.

As I've said before, I'm more interested in the home slate as a season ticket holder and the economic impact of a home game as a taxpayer. The payout from the game isn't as great as the full money you would get from a home game. It's probably about a wash if you average the two years. Plus you're ignoring the economic impact of a game like that on the local economy. It's absolutely a revenue generator and something the local economy should be pushing back against. Instead, you're giving away the hotel taxes and sales taxes to Arlington and the state of Texas. It's just an overall negative for the state school to choose to play neutral site games outside of the state.

Right now it says Penn State is a potential neutral site game in 2020. Hopefully we can talk them into a home and home for 2018 and 2020. That way, we'd have Penn State and Miami, which would be the shite!

bullshite. A state funded university (and thereby it's athletics department) absolutely owes their allegiance to their city and state. In April, LSU athletics posted a story about generating almost 4000 jobs and 400 million in sales for the local Baton Rouge economy through LSU athletics in 2012. I would imagine a large portion of that is coming from Football (let's conservatively say 60%) with 8 home games you're talking 30 million a home game of revenue just for the local economy. The state impact figures are almost as much. Taking away a single game is akin to remove 50 million dollars (again these are rough estimates) in revenue from the local and state economy.

I absolutely know how much is funded through private donations. It doesn't matter. Without LSU, a state funded institution, LSU athletics WOULD NOT EXIST. End of story. I don't care if it's a net positive for university, it is a part of the university and therefore owes at least some allegiance to do what's best for Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
