Once at the water campus, river district, Nicholson redevelopment, etc gets going, the natural place for a M+W type music venue will be somewhere in that area, IMO.

if some of the possibilities that I've heard about the new location come to fruition then Mud and Water will be in a much better place that I think everyone will be happy with.

Hopefully we'll know for sure in the near future

The Library/Northgate Tavern? I know they are struggling but their management is fricked to begin with. M+W would do excellent there

JW hasnt told me anything so I don't know for certain but thats not a name I've heard and I'll refrain from saying what I have heard on the chance that it is true and already in the works.

But I'm really really hoping it is true. It'll be amazing

No. not downtown.

I really don't have any inside information guys and I would prefer not to spread rumors about a place I work at.

Honestly what damage could be done by listing potential places?

CWK, I'm only kidding... I talked to him the other day, but didn't ask about potential spots...

IMO, he may be better off just booking at other venues, he goes back years with Dave at Chelsea's and Gabe at Red Star... Knowing all those dudes well, they'd prob be receptive to it...

Are you still working at the bar sans M+W?

I will say have i received emails or calls from several sources. The most likely scenarios will be partnering with someone downtown, opening back up on our own not far from the overpass or there is a strong chance we could end up right back where we started. I am quite certain whatever pops up there will shrivel and die on the vine quickly. The landlord wants me to buy the building and we will likely get a crack to lease it when the time comes. If given full control of the building i would make serious improvements to the business and ride it out until the water campus opens. And whatever else is going on over there. Tonight is the last show at 174 South more than likely, but really is the start of a new beginning.

Hey, what about the place you were looking at before L bar... Is that even a possibility? I have hard time remembering the layout of that building...

JW, do you have any comment on whether Baton Rouge's lack of a popular new music / alternative radio station has any impact on your business?

An example might be Austin -- with their 3, 4 or arguably 5 stations on which a music club can advertise or promote -- but I'm also thinking of Birmingham, where Birmingham Mountain Radio does nothing but promote live music at the many viable clubs there, with apparent success.

Not saying it is the best in the world but KLSU does a decent amount of advertising for local shows. They also give out lots of free tickets

good question .... that would really depend on how alternative they were and how beholden to a certain playlist the had to be. The Varsity would stand to gain the most from a station like that, but if they had a local show and were big on giving away tickets it would have made an impact. KLSU certainly has been a good friend to us. The whole culture of live music is changing for the better IMO and i think we helped. Again, i didn't pull out of that location because it was working financially .... we weren't printing money, but definitely able to pay bills. total management problem and i am ready for the next chapter.

TFTC --- I haven't ruled out trying to get Chris's Bar on North going again.
