Actually, you know what..I think you might be right. Looking back at it, I think that someone was just brutally killing people and Peter was freaking out and overreacting (and may e ahllucinating?) and thinking that it could be TJN trying to get after him. I think that's what was going on. There was that one time when he was talking to the sheriff chick and the random woman had been murderd and Peter was all like "She must have seen me...maybe at a gas station or something.." and she was looking at him crazy.

I think that was the point of the episode. It was just a small town murder, but Peter's delusions of grandeur made him think it was part of something bigger. And then, coincidentally, TJN and Walternate showed up there to get him.

And the dart scene in the woods...I still am not sure if that was real or in Peter's mind (though I do think it was real and just a clumsy attempt like you said).

interesting idea. Even if it is true that isn't enough for me to like the episode. Make the thing peter is trying to solve actually interesting and not this confusing story, that obviously didn't get its point across that peter was delusional thinking it was all about him.

Just look them up on google/Wikipedia. Wiki usually has solid plot synopses for the episodes, so just reading some of that epsiode should jog your memory of what all happened. Could save you a good bit of time rather than rewatching the episode again.

yeah I was about to watch it saw the first 2 minuets and was like oh yeah this episode so I stopped it and started season 3.

Don't get me started again on Spidey 2.

Episode 3X01
Olivia

The Great Escape was a bit too easy.

I could see her getting out of the lab but I am sure there would be guards galore at all other entrances / exits. Too easy, even if they were letting her escape.

I was wondering if a swim from Lady Liberty to shore would be possible. The interwebs informs me that is isn't nearly as dangerous as swimming from Alcatraz to shore.

Lincoln sure looks a bit rough.

Those cops were a bit too close to the Amber Event. Heck from a side angle they showed there was a cop standing almost next to the building. Wonder if his arse got Amebered.

So she shoots 2 guys with 2 bullets THROUGH the windows. ***See Comment From Last Season*** The one where I was bitching about her sudden inability to hit the side of a barn.

Dang. Walternate busted me. She could make those shots because the memory transference is working.

I still don't understand the end game plan. They want to understand how Olivia can hop between worlds but if she thinks she is Fauxlivia,how will they get that info?

Good episode but I am not sure I buy how compliant Bubbles was. Even after she shot the agents, he was still being overly helpful for someone threatened with harm.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Episode 3X02
The Box
Fauxlivia wears the pants in this organization.
They didn't actually see Bell die and not like he was keeping close contact with Nina so not sure why they suddenly proclaim him dead.
Fauxlivia using the honey pot on poor Peter!
Not going to say anything. Nothing to see here.
I'm not sure I buy Fauxlivia being such a cold blooded killer. I don't think Charlie or Lincoln would act that way. Fauxlivia is more ruthless than I remember.
Damn uncool of Gordon Ramsey lookalike shifter to kill that poor little person.
That is pretty high up on my list of ways I don't want to go.
Pretty incompetent guys over at the train station. Letting a train get through a bomb scare zone.
Walter's loaded! Forgot about that.
Decent enough episode that ties into the arc.
Episode 3 to follow later in the week.
Season three episode assignments start this week, Myth, and discussion for them starts next week. But that being said, since there are only a few of us in here, discuss away.
I'll update the thread with this week's assignment when I get to work in the morning. I've been at the beach all weekend and came home today.
Episode 3X03
The Plateau
That sure was an evil Rube Goldbergian way to die.
The finally give Astrid something to do. Oh wait, same two lines and done.
Flowers for Algernon episode.
That was a cool twist that the equation factored in Fauxlivia's response to the air warning so it was wrong.
Charlie was unsure of Olivia all of the episode so not sure why the air quality error didn't send him into a spiral of doubt about her.
Didn't dig the hallucinations but since her brain had endured trauma and drugs, it isn't out of the realm of possibility she would be a bit bonkers.
I won't let you, but I've only been pissed of at the end of one other movie and that was buried. (but I think it intended to do that, I think) This movie probably didn't want me pissed off at the end rather crying or some BS like that.
/hijack
I won't bring it up again.
yeah it was pretty easy, you would think the home of the department of defense would have a little more security than that . They must suck at security on the other side.
But I have to admit some of the moves Olivia did were pretty kick a#@
quote:
I could see her getting out of the lab but I am sure there would be guards galore at all other entrances / exits. Too easy, even if they were letting her escape.
and the letting her escape thing doesn't really work either. Why would you put one of your most important assets for the survival of your universe escape from your grasp. Isn't there easier ways to get that to work? The idea of letting her escape just doesn't sit to well with me.
I was wondering if a swim from Lady Liberty to shore would be possible. The interwebs informs me that is isn't nearly as dangerous as swimming from Alcatraz to shore.
they always exaggerate things, but I don't care doesn't really matter to the plot, she made it.
was fauxlivia a great shot, and part of her transformation into fauxlivia is a sudden improving of her shot. I seem to remember them trying to put that idea across.
I still don't understand the end game plan. They want to understand how Olivia can hop between worlds but if she thinks she is Fauxlivia,how will they get that info?
I think it has to do with the fact that fauxlivia is on our side, and olive is on this side. I think Walter is trying to keep suspensions down about fauxlivia being on the other side.
Who knows
The Box
maybe they are trying to make her look like someone who will get the job done no matter what. Isn't Olivia kinda that way?
yeah I don't buy that, the radios are jammed so they couldn't talk to each other. I don't buy that for one second. :lol:
I think she gets more lines in the future.
I did enjoy that, this guy is so smart that he would have never gotten caught. Nice way to have him caught not something stupid.
Charlie was unsure of Olivia all of the episode so not sure why the air quality error didn't send him into a spiral of doubt about her.
I didn't realize that, well not to much, but I think what they were trying to get at is this idea that he thinks she is still traumatized by the events so she is forgetting things.
Didn't dig the hallucinations but since her brain had endured trauma and drugs, it isn't out of the realm of possibility she would be a bit bonkers.
also the fact that they are actually trying to convince her that she is someone she actually isn't. So you got that your real self is trying to come out side. Same thing happens to Walter in a different way in a season or two.
shite, forgot to revisit this thread.
Love the dual universe stuff, and how the episodes switch back and forth between the two.
Altlivia is really different, and Anna Torv plays both characters really well. It's cool how you can tell which is which by the way they act.
Bell died? I know it was dangerous for him to hold the portal open himself, but I didn't remember it killing him.
Awesome acting by John Noble in these episodes, particularly #2, The Box, when he talks to Peter about taking him back to this side 25 (or whatever) years ago.
I was legit caught off guard when that midget's head exploded. That shite freaked me out.
Though I don't remember Bell actually dying, I thought I remembered that Bell left Walter Massive Dynamic. I forgot about that until watching this episode, then it came back to me. I don't remember if anything ever really comes of that though (like anything cool/important I mean).
Defusing this device was as easy as putting a couple of clamps on it, but they feel safe enough to frick with it? How do they know they "turned it off"?
I remember the third episode (The Plateau) being cool with all the chain reactions and stuff.
I loved how with all the people at the scene of that accident, Liv just magically looks around and sees that dude and knows that it's him who is the bad guy. WTF?
I really, really hate Charlie. Don't like the character or the actor. He's horrible.
Though I like this episode, it doesn't make much sense. It's basically to the point that he isn't doing predictive mathematics...he's just literally seeing the future. Still cool, but there's no way he could know all of the things that are gonna happening without seeing them. But I guess it just plays into the whole "Limitless" (Bradley Cooper movie) angle where the brain is capable of so much bullshite.
All in all, I am really gonna like this season. I don't remember when it was that they create the door between the universes (is that late this season maybe, or is it S4?) but I like when they end up working together on both sides.
I'm kinda interested to hear your theories once we read the final season. I think it was than, maybe the second to last season, I don't remember. But something is telling me that belly actually didn't die, and this is some large plot to get what he wants. Again this won't happen for a couple of seasons. But just as a reminder bell comes back and tries to create a new super universe. We will address this later.
Well, it is clear that they did but it was a batshit risky move.
I mentioned that they busted me. I write these in game so sometimes my initial thought can be defeated by something happening later. They got me on this one with Walternate mentioning the transference worked.
Not the way they have played it to this point. They could have just locked Olive up forever. They are somehow expecting to get the info from her after the total transference but that doesn't make too much sense unless they can learn how she did it.
Still thought that was pretty damn cold of her. I don't see Olive executing someone from there side just to keep them quiet.
They told us he died but once again, I didn't see any evidence that he really died. Nothing more than supposition at this point especially since he hadn't kept in contact with Nina for a long time.
Surprised I didn't call BS on that. He diffused unknown tech with ease and then they just turned it over to him. Smells a bit.
I have a tough time with Charlie because of OZ. However, I seem to like Charlie II better for some inexplicable reason.
True. It might have started as mathematics but he was moving forward in time and backing up. He had a DVR of prescience.
yeah, not sure if I believe it in this watch through. Bell said he would die, but we don't know for certain. Also doesn't Nina only send him messages and she doesn't hear back?
If so he could be alive and we would have no idea that he was alive.
Only thing that would have to be explained is the soul magnets that happens in later this season I think.
Season 3X04
Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sheep?
If we are in a full blown war with shapeshifters from another dimension shouldn't we be administering some form of daily blood test to all people in power? Wouldn't be hard since their blood is Mercury.
Heck, we should have mercury sensors in every sensitive government building. Sure Walter could whip something up with a spatula, mr. microphone and and old Stretch Armstrong doll.
Too late Broyles. We already knew what they were capable of.
Chef Newton sure is an evil shapeshifter.
So they bring the wife to get a reaction from Vanhornbot and once they actually get one, everyone freaks out and the unplug him.
That was an incredibly weak effort by Fauxlivia to find Officer Friendly. She arrived upstairs almost as fast as Peter. If he checked to see who exited the building it would be apparent she didn't even try to find the guy. Either weak effort by Fauxlivia or terrible direction of that scene.
Newton purposely crashing his car made no sense. He was in tighter spots before. He had no clue if he would survive the crash or who the first person to check him would be. Sorry but that was weak.
I also don't believe he would have asked Fauxlivia if the disc was secure and she wouldn't have answered because neither would know if security sensors could pick up the conversation.
The main plot was to get info from Vanhornbot or his disc. Fauxlivia destroyed the disc. Wouldn't Chef Newtons disc contain even more damaging information?
Fauxlivia going into whore mode to distract Peter.
Episode moved the arc along but on my second viewing, I didn't like this one as much as I did the first time.
It was interesting to see that a shifter could fall in love and want to stay with his family.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Season 3X05
Amber 31422

A Bing search of trapped in Amber yields interesting results.

I don't like the Peter Hallucination. One thing to see glimpses here and there of things that remind her of her old memories but Peter straight up trying to convince her through conversation doesn't work for me.

The amber is used to seal a disaster area. Now that the threat is contained, shouldn't they be able to locate the event and release at least some of the trapped people?

Or did they tell the public that anyone encased in Amber is dead?

Walternate got me again. Answering my questions with actual answers.

They are light years ahead of in technology but the hospital keeps pills in unlocked cabinets.

I see Walternate likes water tanks too. Also since it is 3rd season, I see Torv must have said no to bra and panties.

Ok, I can see how they might be able to push her to jump, but I have no clue how she would immediately jump back.

I'm a bit confused by them using the Amber for the bank heist. This isn't some unexplained phenomena. He used similar vibrational tech to go through walls that was used by the David Robert Jones gang.

Maybe the first time they were unsure of the breach but 5 years later you would think they would have refined their system to detect a real breach.

Was it smart of Olivia to lie? The computers had the same readings from the first time she jumped so telling Walternate nothing happened would raise his suspicion that she is on to them. Especially since she wanted to go into the tank ahead of schedule.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Obscure reference. You get a cookie if you know that one and why I used it.
Season 3X06
6955 kHz
I still don't believe the Feds would allow Peter to keep a key piece of tremendously dangerous tech in an unprotected office lab.
Why doesn't Walter explain to Peter the actual danger and his reasoning why Peter shouldn't use the device? If he explained it just like he did with Nina, maybe Peter would slow down.
How is Peter's picture on the drawing of the device? Is the drawing from the future? Did the observers create the document? If so, why would they try to keep Peter from using the device?
If the earlier destroyed civilization created the device, how would they have a picture of Peter of his DNA?
Hey! The let Asparagus figure something out!
The bad guy reminds me of those aliens for some reason. He has an odd looking face.
BOOO!
Olivia climbing out of the shower already 100% covered by a towel. Not that we would see anything but she definitely changed her tune about showing skin on the show as it progressed.
I know we don't discuss this till tomorrow. But, even though I know what happens in a few episodes I was still really excited to see what was going to happen to Olivia. I don't remember what exactly I felt like the first time I watched this show, but I would think I would have been very very excited and wanted to continue watching. Knowing fringe switches between the alternate universe and ours episode to episode. I almost skipped over episode 6 and watched episode 7.
What I've come to realize about this season so far is that.
1) the Olivia story line in the alternate universe is great exciting and makes you want to come back. I agree it has its flaws too but it is one of the higher points of the season so far.
2) the story line in our universe isn't as entertaining and doesn't want you to come back as much. Fauxlivia is a decent addition to the story. Anna torv is a great actress but I'm not as intersted in fauxliva's story line.
3) I think I was more interested in the machine story line in the first watch but the story isn't as good as the story in the alternate universe. Maybe the writers tried to Mix in to many stories and into one arc. See bellow
A) Peter playing with this machine that only bonds to him.
B) fauxlivia leading the shape shifters.
C) Walter not trusting Peter and trying to stop him
D) fauxlivia not trying to be found out by Peter that she isn't Olivia. (It's pretty obvious she isn't I'm shocked Peter hasn't found out)
E) the latest fringe event thy have to solve.
Compared to the other side
A) Walter trying to get Olivia be like fauxlivia
B) Olivia and her losing her mind (pretty much A)
C) eventually trying to find a way out of this side.
D) the latest fringe case.
I've enjoyed the alternate story arc on this run through more than our universe. Maybe because it's something new, but I suspect it has more to do with, there is one main story we are following, while on our side you have about 4 stories to keep track of.
I'm going to continue this discussion after the saints game, maybe some tonight but def tomorrow.
Almost unfair to compare the two universes because the alternate is definitely more interesting because of their Super Tech (so far not really explained) and all of the crazy crap going on over there.
I guess so, but to me the story, (which has nothing to do with technology) is more enjoyable on the alternate side than our side.
let me rephrase alittle bit, this show has a lot to do with tech, but I'm judging the story on grounds of the story only. I don't think better tech automatically leads to a better story.
