Grilli just struck out 2 in a non save opportunity down 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th.

Since you know he hasn't stuck out a batter since June 3rd or 23 batters since then. It's definitely helping his cause.

Grilli probably won't close tomorrow since he's came in for 3 appearances in 4 days.

I know

Just saying his stuff didn't look good. Olt swung at a pitch that was literally 3 feet outside. Still gave up a hit and a walk. That's more telling about his "dominance" than striking out two guys who swing and miss a ton.

Let me guess, you also believe Jim Johnson and John Axford will get their closing gig back as well?

Hell no, those two guys are scrubs. Grilli may be old but he's not a scrub.

Look at that, ERs (3) in two straight games. But I have to give it to him. He earned a save in both opportunities. Grilli will be back soon.

Can we give neither the job now? Grilli didn't blow a save opportunity

Today? Correct. It's much harder to blow a save when you don't have the opportunity. However, Grilli is 11/15 on the year.

Melancon is 13/16 on the year.

Melancon gave up just as many runs up last night.
