Just saw that George Uko out of USC signed with us. Some had him projected as high as a 3rd rounder. I'm liking our UFA's more than some of the guys we drafted.

I like the Coleman pick up more than any of the draft picks outside of Cooks and SJB.

Looked at every guy listed in the OP and I came away excited about these guys in this order:
1. WR Brandon Coleman 6-6 4.55 speed Taller Colston
2. NB Derrick Strozier 5-7 4.5 speed Midget Tyrann Mathieu
3. RB Tim Flanders 5-8 210 4.7 compact, very shifty chain mover...like a much slower Gio Bernard
4. C Matt Armstrong 6-2, 307 Played every OL position and won the best OL award in the FCS
5. ILB Spencer Hadley 6-1, 228, 4.7 Liked him just cuz of this badass BYU promo
I came to those conclusions after just 20 mins of youtube scouting.

Jesus, Coleman is huge. Lots of body catches in that highlight tape though, for those who were bitching about that with regard to Marquis Lee.

I'm sensing we've found our Eric Martin this year, and we have our Khiry Robinson/Travaris Cadet/Chris Ivory/PJ Hill/Lynell Hamilton/Pierre Thomas
Only missed in 2006(Payton's first year) and 2011(the year we drafted Ingram) when it comes to UDFA HBs.

It's going to take a dramatic progression from him quickly for him to crack the squad. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be let down.
I'd love to be wrong about that though. That size is wow. But if size was everything Marcel Jones would be starting right now.

What can I say bone thug, I despise hypocrisy

Yeah I'm not as sold on Coleman as everyone else is, but I do prefer a much bigger version of Lee over the real thing, especially getting him as an UDFA vs. a 1st rounder.
Last year I got sold snake oil with Martin. Not failing for that again. This kid is project city and is going to have to develop quickly to have a shot.

Agreed
He's so big though, maybe he will make the team, kick arse, and get franchised as a receiver, and then the NFLPA will file a grievance on his behalf claiming he's really a tight end...

Hmmm, Armstrong, the center from Grand Valley St (Lelito's old teammate)- he won the Div II Rimington Award for Best Center. Interesting on a couple levels... surely they saw Armstrong, when they scouted Lelito. Wonder how good this guy actually is? He apparently was good enough to get invited to the combine; but he can't sprint to save his life- he pulled a quad at the combine and then a hammy during his pro day, both while doing the 40.
Good thing centers aren't needed to be sprinters
Could the Saints have actually pegged this guy when they found Lelito, and that's why they didn't draft a center?

So Scoob, what you're saying is that in the pre season, Khiry is going to break one and in trying to get out front and block for him, Armstrong is going to suffer a season ending hamstring pull?
Posted on 5/11/14 at 12:39 am to Laaz2750
Yeah, something like that. Assuming, of course, he makes it through the first conditioning runs without pulling something.
You gotta wonder, is this guy gonna be ready for a NOLA training camp? he might die

Heh totally.
Remember that huge dude a couple years ago that everyone loved because he could do a backflip (backflip motherfrickers!)? Then he got cut 15 minutes into his first training camp day because Payton was afraid he might croak?

What was that dude name? He was a dt right?
And I'd really like us to sign ac lenoard. The right end that used. To go to Florida or Tennessee super athletic

Walter Thomas something like that. He and Mike Haas had great careers here.

Don't know if it was mentioned or not but Cqulin Hubert from SLU it's also getting a tryout from the Saints.

Payton said 2 things about center. The first was that the class wasn't deep and the second was that when their pick came up it was always a round too high to take the guys that were left. All the centers we would have taken were going before our pick.
And I think with Lelito, likely Goodwin, and some UDFA guys we didn't need to reach or trade up to get one.
So in a way, yes maybe this guy and Lelito are partially the reason we didn't reach on one in the draft.
