30 or 40 lb jack crevalle
Mine was probably 25 lbs. In Bayou Blue just above Little Lake in the marsh west of Leeville. Fought it for an hour and a half on light tackle and had to chase it with the boat several times. Got him to the boat after sunset. We just wanted to see WTF it was cause he was in fairly shallow water.

Was it 30 or 40? Or was it just big?

Been pretty lucky fishing offshore
Bull shark – released at boat 8’ long probably 300+lb
85lb yf tuna – released to the grill and sushi
45lb African pompano – would have been a state record had we realized at the time …..
50+ lb gag grouper
88 lb lemon – spearfishing
Lots of 50 - 60 lb lemonfish both fishing and spearfishing
Kemp ridley turtle – don’t know how much it weighed but fought like mad and if it wasn’t an endangered species it would have made a great sauce picant
Was on a boat when we landed a 400lb blue marlin , 120lb yf, 300+ lb mako

I've caught some big fish in the surf at Grand Isle. I think my biggest redfish was 43". I have caught/released some drum that were probably 40+ lbs, never really wanted to mess with them because they are almost inedible and full of worms. If you've ever tried to clean them its like trying to cut through armor with a butterknife. Big jacks are fun to catch out there, if you can survive their first run, you have a good chance to land them. I never weighed any of the Jacks i have caught, just revived them and let em go.

Biggest fish from shore was a 50 lb drum night fishing off the dock at my father in laws camp.

4.5-5# Bass. Scale said 5, but it didn't quite look 5. Never spent much time fishing from the bank except in ponds, and even that's rare.
