How about we get more funding. I know that a 130 million seems like a lot to us but I can assure you it won't do as mu has you think it will. Money seems to disappear in the healt care world especially when it is the govt dealing with it.

Tax payer dollars, our money.
Same money stream for former military personnel wounded in line of duty. If you think it's just a matter of unlimited funds for government agencies and that they don't compete for dollars or that allocation is not political, well guess what you're wrong.....Ty again

FWIW - I have been in the VA system for over 5 years in three different facilities. First was a small VA hospital in the Texas hill country, Kerville. Most of he physicians were pretty good & the staff was excellent, no complaints.

On occasion was referee to Audie Murphy VA in San Antonio. A huge VA hospital with excellent specialist & facilities. No more problems here than you would face in any large hospital. You may have to wait a little longer, but the dRe was second to none.

Lastly, the VA in NOLA. These folks do a great job with limited facilities. Physicians & specialist are great, many teach at Tulane & LSU. Staff, from the clerks to nurses are caring & respectful. They give the appearance that they are not treating "just another patient", they are treating a vet. If this attitude caries over to the new VA hospital, if it ever get finished, this could be an outstanding VA hospital.

I have absolutely no complaints about the VA. I see primary care physician, specialist, have used the labs & X-ray departments with minimal wait time, & order and receive timely any meds I need. Don't know that I could make that same statement in the private sector.

All the above & the Blue Angels & T-birds are still flying.

I can see where a civilian would be frustrated by this, appropriations are complicated. Anyway

VA is NOT funded by the DOD. If the VA had an overhaul and got rid of all inefficiency they would save a lot of money.

Also there needs to be a way to cut down on all of the shitbags who are claiming PTSD for the money. I saw an interview of a guy who had deployed ONCE as a cook and was claiming 100% benefits. I wanted to leap through my tv and strangle him.

Where are you getting your info? After a quick search your 1 million per show claim was quickly debunked.

Nothing major - annual check up & rounds with respiratory, urology & dermatology. I see the specialist twice a year & primary care once a year. Had a melanoma removed & a knee injury treated at A -Murphy.

In my younger years with a family, lived in the normal medical circles, so I have a good perspective to compare. As a Sr (ugh) single, I choose the VA hands down. I carry Medicare & recommend that all eligible vets do just in case you are taken to a civilian emergency room. With the red tape & required documentation, no guarantee the VA can or will cover those expenses. Looking forward to the new facility in NOLA, if I make it that long :-)
