The government is indeed retarded.

The costs would actually be about 2 billion if the government simply fixed the grid according to expert recommendations. However, the government would seek approval for $50 billion, spend $2 billion on grid protection, and $48 billion on golden toilets (ie. aid to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, ghost programs, terrorist organizations/states, etc.)

well, if we as utility consumers want that protection, then would we be willing to foot the bill?...it may very well be doable on a local or regional level, if we as consumers want that...

how much of a surcharge on your monthly electric bill would be acceptable to prevent such an outage?....
