I don't think he meant it like that, J..
I agree. It seems to me that the poster was making a comment about the media rather than Dylan.

Yea dont think he meant it like that Jrevonte... you know everyone around here has nothing but mad respect for your son and what hes accomplished already at such a young age. And you most def had a lot to do with that.
Just think he meant that when people start talking about a young 14 or 15 year old football prodigy, that it creates a buzz and people start googling these kids names and watching highlight reels and talking about it on twitter, etc. And, in turn, that gets programs and coaches interested in them which leads to them offering kids at such a young age, compared to 10 years ago.
Everything Dylan gets, he deserves because he put in the work. And, IMO the best quality of your son is that he has been able to stay grounded and humble and keep his mind set on the prize at the end. He looks at the big picture. Thats also a credit to you and how you raised him to be. I know if I was on the cover of ESPN at 15 I would be a cocky little shite Hell, I wasnt and I still was a cocky little shite. I dont think anyone is taking anything away from your son.

Easy big man. I understand parents well, and while you think this is about your kid, it is NOT. There was no mention of his name or any inference towards him. I am well aware that I had nothing to do with his success, thank you, and I am well aware of how proud you are of him, as I would be too if I was as fortunate enough as you are to have a son with that much God given talent. I have never said an ill word about your son and never will.
My comments were about where we are as a society in how we handle all of this. The follow up posts and comments are correct, which leads me to beleive that most got my intent. I am sorry that you misunderstood my intent.

Dylan has unquestionably earned every accolade he gets. You just don't reach his level without a special God-given talent and putting in the work to make it happen. Dylan is also fortunate enough to have a steady hand @ the helm (you) guiding him as he achieves one goal after the other. The young man is years beyond his age in both mind and body which, is certainly no accident. Congratulations to you both, it's an extraordinary progression to witness and I'm just glad I've got a ringside seat to it. Please let Dylan know I speak for untold thousands of LSU fans when I say we're so very proud of him and the manner in which he represents himself personally and LSU as a university. I can't wait until the first day he dons the P&G to take the field.

I didn't take offense to your statement... my youngin is on a long journey that has many pitfalls...we are just trying to make it to the end.

Absolutely. I have a strong feeling that the "end" is going to be nothing short of spectacular! Proud to be able to call you both part of the LSU family & I have no doubt that's the way the coaching staff feels about you guys too.

I truly don't care if Dylan ever plays a snap for LSU. I will root for him no matter what in football and life.
I will also guarantee he will be more successful after football in whatever endeavors God leads him to.

Despite the misunderstandings and confusions, I think tiger nation is just excited and anxious to see Dylan don the purple and gold.

Just out of curiosity, where either you or your wife abnormally athletic when you were younger? Do you think any of your other sons will have the work ethic and athleticism like Dylan?

Good deal, glad to hear it. I have a son who is a big LSU fan and is also a big Dylan Moses fan. Your skin will get much thicker as you go through this process, as it has too. Most will marvel at what a God given talent he is, some will not be as kind.
My original points were centered around my concerns for what I perceive to be a trend with these younger kids having too much put on them at a time when they are not sure what high school they are going to, never mind what college. While you are a model for how you are handling it, most will succumb to some of the very pitfalls you mention.
Best of luck to you! You are off to a great start! I can tell you that the journey is every bit as special as the destination!

I tend to think that if we had as much media attention on recruiting back when i was younger i would have at least been a 3 star in the 9th grade. i was a bad boy at Linebacker son!!!
My baby boy (5yrs old) is about as athletc as Dylan he just doesn't have Dylan's size. Im trying to push him to baseball. He seems to be a natural. He has a gun for a throwing arm too. Just blows my mind when i see him do his thng
LINK
My 7 year old may be bigger than Dylan but he doesn't have his speed (yet) I see him at Lb or DE the boy has a vicious mean streak.

I just hope he keeps everything in stride. This is a LOT of pressure for a kid that young in their career.
One blown ACL and people will jump off of buildings....

So, no it wasn't Hype it was effort and you my friend had absolutely nothing to do with that.
agreed 100%, but that hype can erode a FRESHMAN.
Its all about perspective and parental guidance. Keeping an even keel and allowing him to be a kid at times versus turning him into Superman when his emotional structure isn't there.
I'm not knocking anyone and to this point, I'd bet he's had good guidance.
I am scared for my "little" ones when their day comes. This early celebrity is fricking scary!
