1. I guess he could have known how to swim. My fault on that... But case in point, one third of the people I know don't actually know how to swim. Drop 'em off 200m from shore and they'd be in big trouble.

2. I'm just assuming my experience in open water and getting knocked around in this type of environment:

Will help even out the battle to the death with Crazy Swan . Goggles knocked off, punched in the face, kicked in the head, being swam over, swimming over people, grabbing or being grabbed by the ankles, etc.

One raccoon killed three of my buddy's dogs in their pond

The coon kept pushing them under and they all drowned

It was over before my buddy had a chance to react

IIRC it was a lab and two mutts

They chased the coon into the water and the coon went to work

Crazy

I can see how this guy could have been in the kayak, got turned over and the swan wouldn't let him come up and he drowned

The heck? Poor dogs.

I feel like raccoons are really smart though. I'd rather fight a swan than a raccoon. In order of pond battles scenarios... I'd fight a dog rather than a swan rather than a raccoon rather than an alligator.

My buddy talked to a vet about it and the vet told him the coon will use its claws to grab onto the dog's nose and use its weight to push the dog down. The dog can't fight back because it is using its paws to try to swim and they tire out and drown
