+1 on the Jawbone Big Jambox; the volume is great and battery life unbeatable. The sound lev blows away my friends Bose on the beach (can hear music over the waves).

I have the Ion Speaker. It's the greatest thing ever. It looks like an amp. But it's loud. Bluetooth, aux connection, microphone and mic jack, radio, and USB. You can charge your phone on it while it's not plugged in. Battery life is around 10 hours. I brought it with me to my friends lake house the other day. It was perfect.
