Definitely not trolling. I guess I tend to appreciate individual beers rather than cast a shadow on everything a brewery does because they could do better at certain brews. I like the tin roof porter and juke joint, don't like the rest. Same with parish. Envie and canebrake are what they are, but GITM and GR are amazing. I just thinks it's funny that people bitch bitch bitch about abita but still bitch about the news guys too. It's like the rant during a 2-1 baseball game. We're winning, but still bitch. Between abita, nola, parish, and tin roof everyone should be able to find some good local brews they like

Oh and the whole beer guy - bourbon guy. That ain't it. I'm just as much a beer guy as a bourbon guy.

Tin Roof has the potential to do more, like Parish....

Canebrake and Envie are "meh" to many mavens but very drinkable and preferred over anything similar Tin Roof puts out. Tin Roof doesn't really have anything that can compete with Grand Reserve, GiTM, FarmHouse, and Dr. Hoptagon imo....

Abita their issue at least with me is they don't take chances, they produce for the masses (which is great for business) but they don't really try anything different when you know they could. Will I still buy from Tin Roof and Abita, yeah I buy Parade Ground Porter, Purple Haze, Turbodog, Strawberry, etc but I still think both companies could do more which is what Parish seems to be at least trying, same with Nola right now.

I'm right there with you... don't forget about the Abita selects either. I for the life of me can't figure out why they don't sell bombers of those

That would be more a marketing question....

Seems they may not think they would make enough to cover the cost of bottling and what not?

Kinda ties into with me saying they don't take chances

I know what you mean about marketing. I'm just talking about quality of beer though. Most of the Abita selects are on the same level as GR and GITM, some better

I did it and it wasn't even close. Commotion won by a mile.

Eh, not in my opinion and that may be a preference in taste though... I never had the Oyster Stout which I've heard great things about...

I actually like Nola ICS, Parade Ground Porter, over the Abita Select Macchiato

I wish Nola would bottle some of the stuff in their tap room, I've heard great things about their grapefruit IPA, Girl Stout Cookie, etc

Same here. Luckily I live just 10 minutes away from them so it's a little easier for me.

So what I've gathered from this thread is that Parish makes a few limited brews that are great. It would be nice if they had a good beer that is regularly available.

Envie is a good pale ale. South Coast is a good amber.

Not sure what else you want from a pale ale and an amber?

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you right here.

A few are in the ballpark though.

Kinda of, but you can't deny the Canebrake. I dont like it but it's success allows them to make the big bottle beers that I do enjoy. IMO Parish has a good thing going.
