Advertising has made men go after this " art of shaving" horseshite. Shows how strong advertising can be. You don't even come close to needing that high dollar -pamper yourself non-sense. You got took-yes- and you asked for it.

I'm assuming by "use their own blades", you mean they're not compatible with others?

Thanks, that was the same razor that I linked, it's just $9 cheaper at Amazon.
I think it may be beneficial to use a shavette and safety razor, even though I'd prefer to just have one. I'd rather stick with a shavette that uses DE blades.

The only reason I can think to use both would be to maybe save some time on the easy areas with the safety razor and use the shavette for the tougher to reach spots like the chin and nooks and crannies on the neck. I'd get both if you're not sure which one you want and see what you like more if you can afford it. Like others have said, I actually enjoy shaving now.

I actually rock a light beard now, because I hate shaving, I wear out razors so fast, and I get some badass ingrown hairs. I usually just run clippers over my face and shave my cheeks/neck. That's messy though, and I'd like to be cleanshaven more often.

For guys who have thick curly hair like me and get in-grown hairs from using Mach5 razors, check out DE shaving. I made the switch over a year ago and it's the best decision I've made.
I get really smooth shaves that actually last longer than half a day, I get significantly less in-grown hairs and it feels more pure.
For those who love their Mach keep doing what you are doing. If you aren't satisfied with the Mach's, then take a into DE shaving. There is a reason why so many men who try it recommend it so highly.

Yeah, I'll make the switch soon. I'll still keep cartridges for manscaping 
but I intend on shaving more regularly, and I'll need a DE for that.

I'm going to make the transition to shavettes I think I'm a few months or a regular straight edge razor.

I know myself, and I just know I'll get frustrated if I restrict myself to only a double edge. I think I would be a lot more successful if I use a DE, then clean up with a shavette.

I don't use Art of Shaving anything - I bought my initial setup from Amazon for around $100 - that was a safety (Merkur 180/23C), a brush (generic badger), stand, Omega soap and a single blade.
I think I bought a blade sampler for $25 to $30, and I pay ~$28 to $30 for bulk 100-pack blades at a time, all through Amazon.
I have to restock shaving cream, as a tube of Proraso ($10) lasts me ~ 2 months.
I bought a scuttle, which was pricey, but that's about it - going on 2 years of DE shaving, I think I'm all in, $350 (including cream/soap) - and I would have spent that easily on cartridges alone - I was spending $9 to $10 a month, on average for cartridges (Fusion).
I think my cost per year, sustained, will be about $50 to $55 a year (depending on blade choice, need to replace brush down the line, etc.) for all consumables going forward - that's about what I would pay for 6 months of cartridges.

I would at least consider Feather Artist Club system, first - same principle, but much higher quality (of course, also fairly pricey - but, I'm going through that same analysis, now.)

Art of Shaving is a scam.
I use either Amazon or shavenation.com for all my shaving needs. The guy who owns shave nation does a lot of tutorials on wet shaving on youtube that I watched so feel luke I owe him some business. Plus he hand signs all of his reciepts with a little tip about shaving. I think it's pretty cool.
