Honestly I'm surprised Byrd had 2 sacks. He can't blitz often, especially not as often as MJ, Harper, and Vaccaro blitz.

Let's face it. Malcolm was only a slight upgrade.

Every time I think I forgot about him he shows back up.

Now there is a guy that deserves way more shite than he ever got.

Honestly Jenkins was definitely an upgrade, but when you're upgrading over Mr. Bullocks there is no where to go but up.

Him and Jenkins learned angles and tackling from the same guy.

All that tells you is how bad our defense has been. You don't want your safeties leading you in tackles.

Example: worst defense in NFL history last year saw Malcolm Jenkins have 94 combined tackles. That doesn't mean he did anything especially good. That means every opposing offense ripped through our D and he was all that was left.

Just think how big the difference would have been had MJ not missed so many and JB had missed a few more....

It boggles my mind how our FS was only able to get 3 INTs in 3 yrs. It not like he didnt have any chances. Brees and the offense usually forced the opposing team to air it out just to keep up the pace.

Angles are everything. Jenkins is a much better athlete than Bryd, but he lacks the instincts.

The response from this guy on twitter is hilarious:

Basically Jenkins faced more deep throws than Byrd.

Jenkins missed 6 in the last 3 years and Byrd only missed those 5. So games played over the last 3 years is about the same.

Byrd is going to elevate our defense to a whole new level. One of the best moves of our front office since signing Brees. Ryan getting Byrd, Bailey, and Butler for this season will put the Saints as one of the top 3 defenses in the league.

I know these rankings change year to year, but I keep seeing this and it keeps reminding me we were 4th in fewest points allowed AND fewest yards allowed.

If we keep that and add in turnovers we will be dangerous.

Byrd alone will be what Sharper was in 2009. No, not a rapest, a turnover machine.

You, and everyone else that watches football, knows that Jenkins is nowhere close to the plater Byrd is.
