This isn't japan. It's the United States. Maybe you've read the constitution?

So you favor altering all facets of the constitution based on stats from foreign countries?

See, there you go with assumptions that make you look like an arse.

I have no stance on gun control, no agenda, and pretty apathetic about the subject. I did however catch a discussion and did a bit of reading on some things, and posted what I thought was an interesting stat.

The difference is I can look at either side of the debate for information to form an opinion. In large part because I tow no party line and could not care less who is on what side politically.

What about countries with strict gun control law yet high murder and/or other violent crime rates?

Sure, I want to scrap the constitution because I note a correlation between gun control and homicide by gun.

Nice leap you made there bozo.

It's nice to see a nation where the people respect one another instead of murder each other.

Oh they kill each other too, they just don't do it with guns.

Keep in mind also that the police is known for, um, "rough" interrogation and it's real news when they don't get a conviction. Civil protection against police abuse is virtually nonexistent.

Swiss have strict laws about carrying a firearm. Totally illegal to carry one that is concealed in ANY way.
WAIT!

You think most gun crimes in the US are committed by LEGAL guns, carried by their owners in a LEGAL way?

Look another well thought out response. Your debating skills have no equal. Thank you for adding your intellect to this conversation.

So you're saying that because blacks murder each other at a ridiculously high rate, I shouldn't be allowed to own guns?

Then what is the point of the thread? If you want to talk about constitutional arguments...what is the relevance of stats of foreign countries without our Constitution? And I will refrain from ad hominem. I'm interested in debate. Thought you were too.

I live in a town of about 20k. We haven't had a murder since like the early 90's I think. There are probably 5 times as many guns per person in my town compared to the national average. The problems America is having are a bit more complicated than guns.

You guys just carry on. I can see no one is really knowledgeable about any correlations or at least not interest in them in the first place if it doesn't support their views.

Like I said I am pretty appathetic about gun control laws. I feel perfectly safe walking around without one and live in a place that is safe and secure. I would worry more about me losing my temper and shooting some asshat and going to jail than worry about needing one to protect myself.

And ftr, I've owned one before, shot many at shooting ranges, shot animals, etc. Grew up in a house with all sorts of shite from hand guns, to shotguns, rifles, fully automatic m-16s and even fricking grenades. Dad was 30 year E9, special forces, green beret veteran of panama, Vietnam, and eastern Europe.

So, I have no agenda and don't really gaf about gun control. I do find iinformation useful however when I consider an issue.
