Do you guys understand why people like me hate religion. Religious people use their faith as a way to meddle in the lives of others. This is just another example of it.
Yeah, it sucks when people meddle excessively in the lives of others and try to decide what's best for society as a whole as though they have any idea.

The wording is outdated, but I don't mind the spirit of keeping the bill - so many states are folding to the LGBT crowd, and many louisianians are proud that our state isn't one of them.

Horrible legislature is horrible.
The only "good" news, I guess, is that this is a symbolic vote. The law is unconstitutional.
Considering how religious LA is, it is actually kinda surprising how most of the social conservative victories have been mostly symbolic.

Like one of the legislators said, they don't have to nod along with a federal board of judges.

Laws need to have a sunset period. After a certain amount of time, if they are not voted on for renewal, they just go away on their own.
How many politicians in that courtroom do you think are guilty of violating the very law they votes to (unconstitutionally) uphold?

Exhibit A for religious meddling right here.
Why in the fricking frick do you care what two consenting adults are doing in the privacy of their own bedroom.
Oh wait. Your god told you that it's important that people only frick in missionary position.

It still shows the strength of our state though - while other states are voting to legalize gay marriage right and left, this is kinda our way of saying "don't even think about it."

I don't get why people always rag on missionary. When will this missionarophobia finally come to an end?

See, I used to care about this issue. Until I realized that it really doesn't matter. "Marriage" as a state contract isn't some sacred thing. It's a scam.
We have much bigger fish to fry.

Yeah you showed those other states.
What a backwards state you live in.

I've never met a position I didn't like. I'm proud to be a criminal.

I'm still wondering why this is even an issue. The fact that the police set up a sting and then had to release their "prisoners" should be embarassing to the police officers but unless this is a pattern of events I'd say it's not the end of the world. Ridiculous outdated laws exist in Alabama too but there are waaaaaay more important things the legislature needs to focus on other than repealing laws that can't be enforced in the first place.
Seems like this was done just to shore up votes for all of the politicians involved. The dems pander to their base by supporting it and the repubs pander to their base by opposing it. But whether it passes or fails nothing has happened anyway. It's a lose-lose for taxpayers.
Dude, this law needs to be repealed. It's a black eye on the reputation of this state because it discriminates against adults partaking in a completely consensual act that hurts nobody and it will be abused by cops anywhere even if the charges don't stick. When you have things like this happen, people tend to think of your state as backwards and it affect the PR for your state it's not in a good way. I hate it.
It's like getting rid of rotting food that's stinking your frige up. I want to get rid of that so the frige can look neat and orderly and not stink.

I understand this frustration and I support it. It's a cherry on top reason why I left the GOP.
I'm christian and I can't wait for the time where the religious section of America doesn't have much political clout but instead they have a gov't who rejects their pleas of legislated morality to subject the citizenry to but will still fight tooth and nail to protect their religious freedom and private property rights for any business they own against groups who seek to impose their own brand of morality.

Because that's what this is all about for you. Keeping a bad law just to spite a group of people you don't like. This is a pathetic stance for even a weak person to have. I'm no fan of the LGBT mafia and despise the manner their efforts have taken as of late and how they are bullying people but this is not an issue at all. I'm secure enough to know this law is not only unconstitutional but it's also a bad law that's big gov't as shite and makes people feel bad about something they're doing that hurts nobody.

much ado about jack shite
Nobody is going to actively stop people from buttfricking so no need for the usual suspects to get their drawers in a knot.
