Yet his teammate was able to play the puck. Amazing how that can happen. In that "split second", one guy was able to see that Backes didn't have the puck, and took possession. But he must possess some sort of superpowers to have done tat, apparently.
Look, these hits because the league wants them. Three guys have speared another team's captain in the nads and it resulted in one penalty. Then the league fined Lucic a whopping $5000, which is less than what they fined a coach for grabbing his balls.
They don't mock it as the Wheel o Justice for nothing. But the NHL pretty clearly wants these dirty hits while they also get to pretend they are cracking down on them. The best of both worlds.

It was dirty. It should've been a suspension. Shockingly (that's sarcasm, as I know you're pretty dumb and need things explained very clearly to you), the league didn't do a thing. Again, because they want these hits. And the talking heads on national TV want them as well, which is why not one of them talked about the Lucic fine today.
And while I'm certainly sympathetic to a guy wanting to hit Crosby in the junk, Dubinksy should've garnered a penalty for it. I do think Lucic's hit was the worst, as you can see him scanning for refs, so there's an element of re-meditation, but dirty hits happen in this league because they sell tickets and you can always find someone to parse the tape like the Zapruder film to justify it.
Leave your feet, target the head, into the boards, while the guy doesn't have the puck... these are the elements of a suspendable hit (as well as "defenseless player"). I'm not making the rules up.
ETA: I've also been far more of a hard liner on dirty hits for years on this board. This isn't a new thing for me. Either clean up the game or don't.

Even fricking TOEWS said it was clean, the guy who got hit. Along with tons of players in the league and on the Blackhawks team.

Well, because he was sticking up for his teammates for not retaliating. Good for him. That's what he should do, to let his teammates off the hook for the beating they were taking in the local media for being soft.
But it's not like I brought up the hit. You did. And you're still mad that I criticized it. Someone does need to get over it, but I think it's somebody else on this board.
