I see some good soundtracks in the responses, but any answer not Rocky IV is incorrect.

Friday night lights movie has good music (ZZ Top, Public Enemy) but none of the songs were on the actual soundtrack

Boogie Nights is really good.

Saturday Night Fever has to be at or near the top of the list. Almost every song is great.

The Purple Rain soundtrack is really good. I had that on cassette. I think there are only two songs I don't really listen to on it.

One of my favorite soundtracks from my day was "Less than Zero".

A lot of people are saying Dazed and Confused. Check out Almost Famous soundtrack. It has the same genre of music.

Legends of the Fall
Braveheart
Gladiator
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Titanic
The Last of the Mohicans
The Crow - score and Soundtrack
Terminator 1 and 2 scores
Oblivion Score
Rambo (Brian Tyler) Score
Superman Returns score
Bubba Ho-Tep score
The Rock
Superman score
Star Wars scores
Red Dead Redemption score
Far Cry 3 score
Sunshine Score
Pirates of the Caribbean 3 score

Inception and The Man of Steel have good songs on them (Time and What are you going to do After - respectively) but overall those scores are just ok IMO. The same could be said for various xmen and Star Trek scores (as well as 28 days later).

For Original score, LOTR and Star Wars.

For pure soundtrack, Rock of Ages.
