I searched for a number of minutes as soon as I heard the news on the board.

I keep checking back to see if anyone else has had more luck.

I never had much direct interaction with LAT but I always appreciated his convictions and honesty in expressing them.

Twice he used my brother's posts as his signature quote and I always thought LAT was super cool for doing that.

Too soon LAT

t is simply amazing how an anonymous sign-on on a football board can have had such an epic effect on so many people's lives.

It really is interesting to me.

If someone had told me 10 years ago that you could sort of feel a legit connection to people you only know via a message board such as this, I would've looked at them like they were crazy.

And, to be sure, it's not the same as really knowing the guy.

But, there's no getting around that when I've seen us lose a few on here, it has hit me much harder than if they were truly just strangers to me.

I guess if you argue and debate with people long enough, even with made up names, they come to be part of your life.

Definitely.

We probably know some message board folks better than some of their acquaintances do though. I mean, what's on the inside. We all have certain markers in our lives and the passing of someone we know is one of the most sobering. Nothing invites reflection more than the death of someone we know, even if it's long distance or just by reputation. People do this with famous folks as well, but people you interact with on a message board passing away definitely cause you to look at your own life.

I certainly spent more time with the kids this weekend. I was a bit more patient, did silly stuff they wanted to do. I can see the days passing quickly and realize the futility of a lot of the things I do. Charles passing, and others who touch your lives in some way can be catalyst for change, even small change, in our lives.

We spend too much time worrying about the future, where we live, what people think, etc and don't spend enough time in the present. Times like these make me appreciate the present a little more.

I agree in some cases. Anonymity fosters a sort of honesty.

Amen. Without getting into details, I've been too focused on the future rather than focusing on what I can do and enjoy right now.

As far as Charles is concerned, it's sad news, indeed. We had more than our share of dust ups (I even received a ban once because of a conflict with him . . . ). He was relentless. But then again, the subject of Alabama (or any SEC rival) would come up and we were absolutely connected. I wish that I would have met him in person on one of my trips to L.A. I'm sure we would have gotten along fine.

Cheers, l.a.t.

You noticed that huh, Rob. It's the power of words...The Word...Truth. Manifest on this board in our honest and unrestrained search for it.

In all honesty...not many have personal power enough to look someone in the eye and go to the bottom of their heart. "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh" (biblical). It's a lot easier to do it anonymously; but the effect in bonding folk together (love) is all the same. Or tearing asunder too; "double-edged sword", in Thumperspeak.

So strange and ironic that LAT does in dying what he desired but couldn't do in life. Like all of us here. Do the right thing and make friends.

What a beautiful Creation. Death too.

LAT forward.
