I think Hawthorne is okay for basketball. Football, very meh. But he absolutely sucks at baseball.

Baseball season is long and there's a lot of games so he picks up bad habits that stick as the year goes on. And it's like a reset button is hit each opening night and he picks up new ones for that season.

Watch the game and listen at the same time and tell me if you think he does alright.

I don't find Jim frustrating.

He is a great guy with a great voice who loves LSU.

I hope he's here another 20 yrs.

While we're on the Hawthorne pain train, anybody else think his pronunciation of the Mc sound is an intentional thing? I've never heard anybody emphasize the "MAC" as much as he does. Sean MACMullen, Ben MACDonald. The MACNeese game was hilarious to listen to.

Oh my goodness this! I was trying to think about what was driving me nuts and this was it. I was driving last Sunday listening to the game, and everytime he called MACKmullen's name it was absolutely cringe-worthy to me.

I think he loves doing basketball, and to a lesser degree, football. I don't think he enjoys doing baseball and it shows.

Last season it was calling the last play of the game and saying (example) "ground ball to second.

You are still butt hurt over an "example" of a play from last year?
quote:

Throw over to 1st" "and that'll retire the side." It was like he was calling the end of the 2nd inning or something.

I'm assuming that you had fallen asleep or something and lost count of the outs and the number of innings. So it's Jim's fault that you couldn't maintain your focus?
quote:

Now tonight instead of telling you someone just struck out. He would simply say "strike" like strike 1 was called. Here's an example. "Here's the 2-2 pitch. And that's a called strike."

Math is difficult for you isn't it? I mean he said it was a 2-2 pitch which the umpire called a stike and you couldn't figure out that it was the third strike which in baseball means the batter is out. It's an old rule.

Yeah it's Jim's fault that you can't follow a baseball game because baseball games are so fast paced.

Seriously which one of you is getting senile?

How does Jim's dick taste?

He's terrible at calling baseball games.

How are they pronounced?

Mic and not Mac?

I'm not sure that's right. I admit I'm not from Louisiana and you people over there have your own way of speaking.
