Not only does he have the power, but technique is good too. Gets his body between his man and the running lane consistently.

Could push for Right Guard if we have injuries.
would need a lot of injuries. Fehoka and Washington are two big road graders who are fighting for that spot.

quote:He will be in shape. He never stopped working when last season was over! How much playing time, if any, he gets we have to wait and see. That will totally be up to Coach Grimes and Les and their vision for the OLine. But, being out of shape will not be an issue!
Hope he comes into camp in shape. We'll need him THIS season IMHO. Could push for Right Guard if we have injuries.

Wow.....I mean. Wow.
The balance, footwork, ability to get to the next level, maintaining engagement, aggression, passion, strength.....the list goes on and on.
While an OG, not an OT, CRob has exactly jack shite on this kid.
Eta: when watching this film and reflecting on my senior year in HS, I'm humbled. Garrett is elite.

quote:Thanks for the kind words. A lot of people don't know or understand the amount of time and dedication Garrett has put into becoming the player that he is! He gets a lot of inquiries from high school players now wanting to know "what do I need to do to get recruited?" They think there's some magic pill they can take to make it happen! He just tells the plain and simple..."work hard everyday, even when you don't feel like training!" Garrett is determined to leave his mark! I think he has accomplished that at U-High. He has set the bar extremely high for other offensive lineman coming through U-High. He is not cocky by any stretch of the imagination. But he does have a sense of having to prove himself due to him being slighted by some analysts, reporters, and fans for not being 6'6" 300 lbs! When I was growing up we had a terms we used all the time..."Big for nothing and Big and sorry!" I used that to instill in him that being "big" is not enough! You have to be skilled as well! He saw first hand at the Under Armour game exactly what I meant. All of those guys were BIG! But a lot of them were not very skilled! They have been getting by in high school on just being big! That will not be enough at the college level!

He looks like a much better athlete than what we currently have at OG.

That was fun to watch, the kid plays with passion and looks like he was born to put people on the ground.....glad to know he plays with a chip, he'll be fun to watch and cheer for!!

Not to take anything away from GB, but that left guard (#79) is a pancaker himself. Who is that kid?
Posted on 4/13/14 at 10:17 pm to RainChance0
#79 is Drew Moore. He is a ULL signee.

Big for nothing I said that to a nephew the other day playing a pickup game

Met his a father on a couple of occasions, and talking to him about his son, you can tell the kid was raised well, and has a good head on his shoulder. That's just as important as his on the field performance

Great Video. Haven't seen much of Garrett, but I hear he's for real. Looks like the recruiting video from "The Blind Side". Future is bright!

Hoko seems to me to have the edge however I could easily see Brumfield in that #2 slot pushing to start. Washington's big he just isn't a grader, Check out the spring tape, he's good just not elite like Garrett or La'el or even crafty like Porter.

This is exactly why im so excited about Garrett, kids humble, hard working, respectful; whoever raised him has done a GREAT job. He'll leave lsu an all american, book it!
