I just think that Cooks and Matthews will be the better NFL receivers

Beckham has a better opportunity to be a more complete receiver than Cooks. Cooks has that rare downfield ability and might can stretch the defense a bit better. He definitely has the potential to be a stud as well. So much relies upon where these kids end up getting drafted to which determines their future development and production in the NFL.

I'm glad you said it and not me

But I'm with you. I wouldn't mind ODB I wouldn't freak out but there's just 2 or 3 WRs I prefer over him

Beckham has a great combination of speed, character, route running, pedigree, and special teams play maker. He's going to be a great player in this league. Pair him in a productive offense and a hall of fame quarterback... its a great pick.

I agree with this. Who's going to be better, Beckham or Cooks, is debatable. But the people acting like Cooks is leaps and bounds superior to Beckham as a prospect are retarded.

See, I don't necessarily think LSU Fans get boners because they are LSU Players and that's what the negatigers latch on to.

LSU fans latch on to CERTAIN... and do keep in mind the vocabulary word CERTAIN... LSU players because they know more about the player and like certain skills or character traits that they are more sure of. Every year, there may be 10-12 LSU prospects that come out of LSU. Just because Saints fans who are LSU fans latch on to one or two prospects doesn't mean they are doing it out of fanaticism. They are doing it more out of knowledge and intellect about the player and how he can fit within our offense or defense.

I Love LSU.

I'm not beating the concrete about Mett.
I'm not beating the concrete about The Freak.
I'm not beating the concrete about Landry so much.
SO on and So on.

I think ODB will and could be an excellent fit in our offense. *Hence so do the damn Saints front office so i guess that puts me in bad company)

Posters who are continually arguing about this LSU and non LSU point are immature fricking idiots.

Naturally more exposure to the players is going to give you a better understanding of Their skills.

It's just when LSU fans try to push these players over other players that they don't know anything about that it gets annoying.

meh, i like mett a lot as a player but i'm just not down with a qb this year... especially one in the top 4 rounds. Looking at drew's time line, its just maybe a year too early now.. maybe even 2 years too soon.

Its just not that needed for you to groom a qb for 3 freaking years especially when we are salary cap tight and need to hit on some players to replace some vets over next couple years. Too valuable of commodities. Luke and RGIV make a nice group for now.

Or maybe think fans think the other players that they truly know less about seem more appealing only because strange is more appealing some times.

It's kind of like marriage and men wanting to bang other chicks. They don't want to bang other chicks bc those chicks are more talented.... they just got that strange and new vibe to them so you just want to see how it feels for them to strap on your uniform.

I'm not saying go for it, but if the value is there I wouldn't throw a fit if they took a QB.

I just don't see it this year. I just think its too early. Not sure many of the mid round guys are that much of an upgrade from RGIV. They should always do their homework on these guys cause these guys could always be traded for/ acquired after rookie deals, can get cut etc.

Today's case was quite the other way around. People were shiteing on an LSU player the Saints are showing interest in. Nobody was pushing anything. Beckham is a legitimate top WR prospect.

(won't deny there are occasional LSU fans that do what you're saying but the regular ST posters really aren't like that.)

I'm opposed to drafting a QB for the next 2-3 years unless you're giving me a top 5 prospect in the 3rd round. 1 round quality isn't worth it at this point when we can be building depth or studs that can start.

I don't think they will either. But I've read a few pieces that predict Drew won't play past this contract. If that's the case and they actually know what they're talking about (a big IF) then getting a decent prospect wouldn't be a bad thing. If Drew will play till 39-40 then obviously no need for QB yet.

thats still 3 full years of playing from drew. I don't want a prospect to sit for 3 years. Start his last yr of rookie deal. Biggest benefit of these rookie qb's these days are their rookie contracts. Get a few years of cheap play at the position.

Yeah but there are many more misses than hits with that strategy and different drafts will have different QB prospects. Starting caliber QBs aren't a yearly commodity.

Drew looks to be the mentor type, having someone learn with him for a few years would likely be very beneficial for the young QB's development. But I do agree with your point that Super Bowls are hard to come by so you gotta go all out while you can.

Of course if the Saints feel like Griffin is the guy then all of that is meaningless.

That's a good point, really. I feel like I know a lot about Beckham and Landry. I've seen them play...I know what they can do. I haven't seen the other prospects play. All I really know is "Brandin Cooks is good". Okay. I don't know how he compares to Beckham or Landry, but I still don't want to put one in front of the other just because my knowledge of one is more extensive than the other.

I'd rather be terrible for 1 year after Drew is gone and get a top 5 pick than draft one in the next 3 years

Quarterback should not even be a serious thought right now.

Drew has plenty left. They/We can worry about that in a few years.
