Pretty sure you met him before that event. I know he was there the first time I met you. Maybe the party was the first time someone identified him as the Timber Beast guy.

Are y'all talking about the brewer there with long hair, kinda short, who created Timber Beast?

Yea, first time I met him I tried to compliment Timber Beast by saying I put it on the same level as Ruthless Rye and Hop Rod. Man, he totally twisted it and lectured me on how his beer doesn't taste like those beers at all and how he was doing something different. Geez.

I mean, I didn't say they had the exact same flavor profiles or anything. But in the not-so-broad category of hoppy rye beers, I was just trying to say that his beer was right there with them.

Could be. Maybe I just had a bad experience on that particular occasion. It was pretty off-putting, however. And FWIW, instill buy Timber Beast if it's fresh. I'm not so petty as to withhold business if I actually like the beer.

Wise, maybe I have. I dunno. I felt like that was the first time I met him, but I could be mistaken. Definitely the first semi-extended conversation I've had with him.

Ut, that's the one. Seems odd that so many of us have had less than favorable experiences with him.

GA (can't buy beer from any of the breweries directly, most will give ~7 drink tickets for $10 or so)
Sweetwater - beer is nothing to brag about but I do think they offer the best tour/tasting/brewery hangout in Atlanta. On weekends they will typically have food trucks and live music. Huge brewery with multiple venues, always a lot of people.
Red Brick - much smaller than Sweetwater, will have live music most of the time
Burnt Hickory Brewing - tour itself is bad but this is the best beer GA offers
Monday Night Brewing - good patio, large venue, becoming much more popular

If you are in Athens I'd always recommend checking out Terrapin. As far as tours/tastings go, it is still second fiddle to Sweetwater tho.

After the big ones listed here, you have smaller up and coming breweries like Wild Heaven, 3 Taverns, jekyll, red hare etc etc. I can't speak to these really.

That is odd. He's a little eccentric/stonerish at the same time but he's a good dude.

I'm disappointed so far in the number of people who have been to Oregon breweries (and which ones you've have been to).

Damn, how about that. I'm not going to take up for the dude but it's funny that other people haven't had positive experiences with him. Oh well.

Probably another 8-10 small ones in Portland that I can't remember the name of because this was in 2006 and I've had a lot of beer since then.

I think that's it but I may be forgetting a few.

I will say if we had something along the lines of the CCB brewpub here it would make a killing. It's a nice place with good food and really good beer. Maybe NOLA/Parish/Great Raft will able to do it. The Abita Brewpub isn't even close.

NOLA has some really good things in the works right now, but it might take some time since it's in New Orleans.

Sadly, i have only been to 2 breweries. Tin Roof and NOLA. Tin Roof wasn't really a tour. NOLA had a small tour, but wasn't too much to look at. My wife is pregnant, so going to a brewery is not her idea of fun when she can't drink.

But, in about a month the baby comes, then we will start taking some trips to see breweries.

Homer Brewing.

I have an uncle who lives in Homer. He gets growlers from there all the time. The only beer he drinks.

My uncle lives in Homer, and has a cabin in Peterson Bay directly across the water from the Homer Spit. You can only get to it by boat, and it is gorgeous. The beer there was pretty good, as I remember it (admittedly, during my pre-maven days).

I don't always take the tour when I go to breweries/brewpubs. Usually, I just go to drink. A lot of the smaller ones don't really need touring, anyway.

Really ? I've seen people at NOLA in tank tops and cargos with pitbulls drinking AMT not get kicked out. Maybe we just on another level of trashy down here.
