I lied about OK. They're in Tennessee.

Either way, the guy's name is Robert Millner and his place is called Duckhill Kennels.

My buddy said they've kind of taken off since he bought his dog, so they might be a little more pricy now. Those dogs are from a litter from a stud named Boomer.

Bought one from them about 5 years ago that we recently lost. Great family dog and excellent retriever! I would love to have another just hard to unload 1k on it! You won't be disappointed in their pups!

Millner that owns duckhill was the first to import British and he started Wildrose in 1972.

He is a extremely knowledgable and very good guy. I've talked to him on several occasions.

ETA: he's just outside of Memphis.

Yeah, I travel for a good dog. I drove over 12 hours for the last one.

Downsouthdave, Did you ever get a puppy out of the Ginger x Tide breeding? I was interested in the look of the parents but also want sufficient hunting skills and drive. Needing input. Thanks,

I have a black one from Huntfield. This is his 5th season. Best duck hunter ive ever owned, and Ive had three. he is a complete gentleman of dog in terms of behavior, manners, and temperment. Only fake popped him a couple of different times as a pup with a newspaper, and he never repeat offended. I think it is just the pure British bloodline at work though. Thats the traits theyve wanted over there.

Just rememebr, the best hunters are black, that is the color thats bred primarily to hunt.

No, they said there was a false pregnancy. But they didn't tell me until after the pups were supposed to have been born. I called a couple weeks after the expected delivery date and they told me then. That's after numerous phone calls that weren't answered and numerous emails that weren't answered. Huntsfield claimed they called me once to let me know, but they certainly didn't leave a voice mail if they did. Overall, it felt a little shady.

They offered me a pick in an upcoming litter, but I didn't really like any of the upcoming pairings. I chose just to get my deposit back. Still don't know what I am going to do, not in any rush.

Also, in case you're looking at breeders all over the nation, don't forget to factor in the cost of shipping. I want to say one breeder wanted like $350 to ship. Just another price to factor in.

Black is the best hunter...

I've been looking into dogs recently as well. Still not sure about the prices being that high. I guess i don't understand what makes a puppy more valuable based on its parent/kennel

The pedigrees have a lot to do with it.

I didn't mind shelling it out. Expensive dogs make expensive puppies.

You ever trained a dog?

The ease of training is a big factor. You are lowering your risk of getting an untrainable dog

ETA: Brits, by nature, are much easier to train
