Fished Lake Mechant a few weeks back (because I had the itch). Caught one 10.5" speck to not get struck out. The water was chocolate just about everywhere.

My itch has been covered in Calamine lotion. I may not go back until I here of some good reports.

When Todd Masson wrote about me last summer and put my pic in the TP, the article was published 2 weeks after my trip. Merchant was sooo two weeks ago, mon.

I really have no idea but I want to fish the islands, so that's where I'm going unless the weather and conditions have something else in store for me.

I also heard that northwest islands, west end of cassetete island, Philo brice island, and brush islands was worth trying.

I agree. Do you think those specs will be more closer to the area where houma canal mouth is? Either by those bunches of bays or further up?

I have no idea. Going scouting all over though. Gonna burn some gas looking for the right conditions and not just spots.

I wouldn't go to that area ever. No fish in that water, plus there are hidden reefs that will sink your boat and 20 ft hammerheads ready to eat anything that goes in the water. Stay far, far away from eastern Timbalier bay. Thou hast been warned!

I'll be at my camp in soco a few nights over the next week. Definitely fishing thursday morning. Fished Pelto 2 weeks ago and caught one bullred.

Eschette's in houma has pogies. You can catch hardtails at the rigs 12 miles southeast of cat island pass and they make the best chum for mangroves.
