If you want to know what the outlook of the Qb position is then go reference miles and Cameron's quotes on the two qbs post the whole spring. Harris played better in the actual game but you can tell he didn't follow the gameplan or scheme.THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL JAB but Harris appears to be a wild card that may be prone to doing his "own thing" on the field while Jennings appears to be the exact opposite. We are truly faced with a similar dilemma again but with a better coordinator.

Hopefully this close competition thru the summer will allow the personality of each Qb to rub off on one another. Say way what you will ... But having a competition will bring out the best guy for the Team next season, maybe and not necessarily the best Qb.

Jennings look rattled but you're an idiot to say he doesn't have a pretty ball. Guy has great throwing mechanics other than he tends to lean on his back foot when he comes out of a short drop back but the kid has a tight spiral and has touch on the ball. He did put look rattled but you're an idiot to say he doesn't have a pretty ball. He did put too much air on it at times, but what we saw with Arkansas is no joke, it was too well done to be a false impression. Rolling out, setting his feet making a good throw. He can play, just needs a little work which you have to trust Cam is doing the right thing with him. much air on it at times, but what we saw with Arkansas is no joke, it was too well done to be a false impression. Thanks for your insight - and, for that matter - the insights of everyone else who provides us with their expert impressions about the spring game. I don't have a clue how I would survive without knowing such valuable information. Likewise, I'm sure that you could not have survived without sharing it.

At some point, you can't keep discounting the fact that Harris looks better than Jennings. Harris has a stronger arm, is more accurate, and definitely runs better than Jennings.

Harris wasn't even at LSU 3 months ago, and and yet he got equal reps with the 1st team in the Spring game. Does that tell anybody anything? Cam Cameron knows how to evaluate QB's better than any of us, and I think he already knows who the more talented QB is. Giving qual 1st team reps to Harris tells me that they are giving the kid every opportunity to win the starting job asap.

when the duck walks, its hard to ignore the waddle.....

while I am usually an optimist with LSU football, those kids have a lot of growth to cover before next season. fact.

ETA: I have NOT given up on Jennings in the least. He does have the physical tools to be successful......so does Harris.

I've just rarely seen a guy with the shaky pocket awareness of Jennings get a lot better at it. That just seems to be an innate skill.

you have to admit this though. Metts pocket presence year one vs year two at LSU was like night and day. It can be taught. Just have to calm him down

Cliff notes:
-Jennings makes OP nervous
-Harris is better pure talent but needs to develop
-some random words that explain why it's important we listen to OP and not the thousands of other people who are saying this exact thing

You're right, it's such an odd thing for someone on a message board about LSU sports to comment upon what they see in LSU sports. Doing so automatically implies they think they "know it all". One really should expect many threads on the rant to be about hot to knit a sweater.

You come to the rant so one would assume you anticipate seeing people talk about LSU sports. Perhaps you got lost on the way to the knitting board?

Why yes. I'm so very prolific on this board. Hardly a thought about LSU football crosses my mind that I don't share with you guys. You can find me in nearly every thread gracing you with my genius.

Oh.......wait. What's that? You don't see much from me on the board? How in the hell am I surviving!!!!

Gotta have a thick skin around here sometimes.

Think you hit the nail on the head. Harris at least has the abilty, vision and speed to improvise. Just needs to learn to look off recievers and go through progressions. that'll come with time and practice.

AJ just looks lost and tentative. Folds under rush like Jarrett Lee and Mett. That game winning pass against Arkansas has bought him more time and goodwill. If not for his experience, I think Rettig might be getting more reps. If AJ doesn't show more, I think eventually that will happen.

To me, the most obvious and worrisome fact is that AJ has not progressed at all since Ark. game...in fact, may have regressed...

Why is this even a question for anyone? How can anyone have any expectations for QBs who have been in the system a few months and only about a year? The best you can hope for is development during the season. Winston or Manziel expectations are ignorant and definitely unrealistic. If we dominate on the ground we'll be okay on offense. Both these QBs will be more competent than JJ was. We went to a NC with a horrible QB situation. If defense plays at a level we expect and Fournette+the Oline is billed to be what it can, we're going to be fine with some growing pains at QB/WR.

Harris will probably at least get a ton of PT...maybe a 2 QB system. At some point this season he will start and have a bad game. The the rant will cannibalize him and want Rettig in. That's how it always goes on here. They have a new favorite QB every year and then want to feed them to the wolves the second they have a bad game. It's really funny to read.

First it was Lee, then it was JJ, then it was Mett, then it was Jennings and now it's Harris. Tomorrow it will be Ret or whatever QB we get in our recruiting class. frick all development.

Not if he keeps turning the ball over in practice and floating passes. The coaches aren't dumb.

FWIW, it was the complete opposite in the last scrimmage, from the reports I heard. Harris threw INT's and Jennings didn't.

Obligatory "we talkin' bout practice"

I'm very much hoping that if Harris is the man, that Rettig be a solid backup because right now

Shouldn't you be hoping that A QB steps forward in the next 5-6 months and takes the job?

Why do I get the feeling some are placing their bets like at a horse race?

I recall a LSU QB throwing like 5 ints in a spring scrimmage and then going on to have a great season. I also recall a RB gaining over a 100 yds in a SG and winding up 3rd or 4th string to start the Fall.

It's fun to watch the guys play the SG, but anyone making sweeping decisions off the results is just being silly.

It's like I keep saying. They swarmed all over Jennings last year and thought he had everything (minus the cannon). Now they are doing it to Harris. Wait until the fall to draw any real conclusions. Cam already said that they will go over the Spring game footage (already have since it's Tuesday), which gives the QBs things to work on that they can visually see. I mean hell, who's to say they don't come out in the fall and both look really good? It happens.
